Does /3/ have any good models of the Earth? Not just a sphere, but a detailed model with mountains and ocean depth.

I'm trying to import an fbx into 3ds max and this keeps happening. My fbx plugin is up to date, using 3ds max 2013. What the fuck is going wrong?

Any blenderfags that can tell me how to fix this issue? Materials does the same thing but I changed it's color to match the texture and I dont get those lines anymore. I don't that's how it's supposed to act anyway in the first place but problem is gone with mats. Texture just does this and I've no idea how to get rid of it

This has been an error in every version of Maya I've used. Anyone know a fix? Deleting history doesn't work.

Max -> Maya Unwraps

So I'm working on a creature model for an upcoming project, the issue is that I use 3DS Max, and the other artists use Maya. While I do plan on learning Maya, it would be faster for me to just work in Max for now. Are my teammates going to have problems with my model? I'm also going to be doing the high poly normal maps in zbrush. Any help would be awesome!

Trying to unlearn Blender so I can start studying and using Maya. Has anyone here tried to do this? What made the process a lot of easier?

Shape Key Export

11 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Ok so i'm trying to make a game with unity, this is my first time using unity for anything, and also the first time i've made a model for a game, so the first time i've textured and rigged and all that, I made it in blender and i've got shape keys set up here for facial animations but i'm unsure how to go about getting them into unity. So far i've been met with nothing but issues, I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if it's something to do with the programs, but so far everything i've tried hasn't worked.. exporting as FBX gives me a model with the bones and i can slap the textures on and everything so it seems like the ideal export type, but when i move the bones for the facial expressions that are linked to shape keys nothing happens, i tried set up the animations in blender and binded them in unity but still nothing, so then i looked into "baking" the facial expressions, which would be fine as it's merely blinking animations at the moment but it doesn't seem like an easy task, i had to find an addon so the mesh can be warped with and rgb maps and scripts (which is fine, that'd work) but the part i use with blender doesn't seem compatible with the latest version of blender, i'm not sure if downgrading to blender 5.whatever is really something i want to do just to export facial expressions, are there any better methods for getting shape key animations into unity? Inb4 "gtfo horsefucker", lets all be mature here.

>"physically based" is also a lot of marketing speak. All renderers are physically based to some extent (they simulate light, some sort of eye/camera with an image plane, etc). And all of them take shortcuts which means they're not 100% accurate. Some will give you more artistic flexibility, others make it easier to mimic the "real world". The choice of biased or unbiased algorithms is also a trade-off. >Anyway, the realism of the final image has at least as much to do with artistic talent as it does with the renderer. Probably more so. is this true? muh one click solution.

What went wrong?

Huge Scale in Blender

Is there any way to model very large scenes in Blender? I'm unable to find a way to work with something actually sized to 1 mile. This is for an animation that would include flyovers of fields, along highways etc. so there has to be a sense of great depth to everything. How can I do this without either making something insanely large or having the vertices way too close together?
