I've recently started learning some zbrush, and its nice and all for sculpting, but how does it feels shit to work with topology... I've been trying to get a model to maya so I can get on with life and animating, but the remeshers just seem to put polygons wherever it feels like and its shit for low count. I know I can project the details later as normals but my base mesh is just not getting good enough for animation. Is there any way to direct control or limit zbrush remesher's so the poligons align nicely or am I just forever fucked up with a sculpt mesh? Tutorials i've found so far are not helping much also does zbrush lets you deal with individual faces/polis?

made a quick bust of the teller from doctor who. how can i improve my detailing skills? I usually just use standard, pinch, Dam standard, inflate, and clay to do my skin folds, wrinkles and petty much everything in the detailing phase P.S. bust is only 800k polys... for some reason zbrush wouldn't let me divide but didn't feel like looking into it too much because this was just a quick daily practice

Hey /3/, Newfriend speaking, I've been using Solidworks about 1/4 of my natural born life and I've been enlisted by a group of friends who have seen my modeling ability in that stuff and want to enter a competition with me as their 3d Modeler. I downloaded Blender today and it is nothing like Solidworks. It's frustrating and makes me feel like all my experience has been tossed out the window. What's a good program to use for someone coming from Solidworks? I really don't want to let them down, as they've put a lot of time into this.

I just started taking 3D classes and found out about a few tools that make life easier for people that work with 3D. I was wondering if there are any other tools that I haven't heard about yet that I could use to speed up projects. Tools/programs I've heard about: Render Farms (rendering) Mari (painting) Mixamo (rigging) Marvelous Designer (clothing) makehuman.org (character models) I haven't used any of these yet, but from their descriptions they sound very useful.

Hey /3/ I'm trying to texture paint using substance painter and was wondering a way in blender to unwrap models quickly. Pick related is the extremely simple model I am trying to unwrap, all of the automatic UV unwraps in blender don't work well with Substance Painter at all.

So I'm fucking around in blender and I'm trying to get Blender cycles to work with my GPU. I've downloaded the latest drivers for my GT 560ti as well as a CUDA toolkit from Nvidia's site but it refuses to work. I'm getting a "CUDA error: Not found in cuModuleGetTexRef" error and Google isn't telling me how to fix it. Thanks in advance for any help. As for why I'm still using Blender, I don't know any plugins for 3ds Max or Maya that lets me import MMD models into it, which is one of the things I'm using the most. I'd get whatever if such a plugin existed though.
