hey guys total 3d noob here. how is something like pic related made? is it doable in blender?? how long until i would be able to do something like this? i don't care about textures, UV's, and refined rendering with bizillions of light sources and surface-interactions. i just want to be able to efficiently bash together stuff like this in order to take a screenshot into 2d to work ontop of. plz halp. also i just downloaded blender and i'm messing around in it as we speak. i hope that it's adequate software, because the big packages (maya, 3dsmax) intimidate me.

Hello, Maya newb here. I am following a tutorial but I am stuck. After using Quad Draw Tool to draw the shape of a mech chassis, I snapped the vortexs to the center using the front view to afterwards, mirror the shape. BUt when I do, this happens. I have repeated every step but it keeps happening. Any hint, please?

Wat. Why? WHY? It's not like vertex indices are RIDICULOUSLY important for preserving shape keys or anything. Nope. Don't need to see those! So, what makes a good CGI modeling and animation workstation in general? I mean, obviously you need a high end PC for getting this shit down. Sure, nowdays rendering is done on farms but one still needs a good machine with a good processor, plenty of ram and above all a great video card if you take this seriously and use it to work. Care to enlighten with some builds guys? I would specially need possible substitutes for a quadro (those are expensive as shit). I was thinking on a fairly simple 980 since most of the diference with the quadro are the drivers and shit. Advice?

So here's the issue: I import my model into Oxygen 2 after triangulating it. (Oxygen 2 only accepts Trips, no Quads and higher.) When checking it out in Bulldozer, the ingame render viewer, I get pic related. The triangulations are showing and my eyes are bleeding. After going back into Blender and re-triangulating the mesh--for the past 2 hours--I just can't seem to produce a version where these triangles don't show. I thought about doing it manually, but I feel as though there's a simple work around for this. Any feedback on the issue would be truly helpful. Also don't mind the black texture. That'll be fixed later.

noob started in 3d. have a question. how much do 3D artist earn on average per hour or week. cuz i just did a quick search for "3d" in job section of craigslist and it was from 15-25 even 35$ an hour. but most were part time hours (15-20 hours a week of work)

I'm studying web dev, yet I have this shit 3dsmax class which I never pay attention to. Now it's exams time and I need to deliver some crap that I have no idea how to make. tl;dr I need to make this in 3dsmax: -a room with: walls, door, windows, curtains -a fireplace, wall painting, a vase -a couch with big pillows -a table, with glasses, a bottle, a dice, some small plates+candles, and an ashtray -a carpet -a bookcase with a bunch of books -small table with a lamp -a vase with some plant or a flower -some furniture that has a tv+speakers Anyone willing to help me?
