What is this type of image called? I googled "character modeling reference images" and I got a bunch like these. Is there a specific image name for these? Vitruvian man type deal? Also, more character reference images. I'm just learning how to model in 3ds Max from reference, so the less complex, the better, at least for now.

Is anyone here familiar with UDK? I build this model in Blender. The material of the floor and that of the house are essentially the same, and the problem persists regardless of which material I use. The problem is, as you can see in the pic, that the house is much darker than the floor. I exported them in the same way from Blender and edited them in the same way: >lightmaps don't overlap >padding around lightmaps >edge smoothing >same lightmap resolution >same texture resolution >diffuse and specular only Any ideas? Shadow casting is disabled, it's supposed to be.

hey /3/ whats the best way to create armor for a character? by using the extrude tool in zbrush or creating it in max or maya. so far i think doing in max is better but im not sure. not a huge fan of in zbrush cuz i can get it to be as accurate as i can get in max

Can anyone make this texture? It's fascinating. It's like fire, but it arcs. I feel like it's some kind of modulated noise masked and embossed, but I don't know what kind of noise could possibly look like this. Anon, I'm so tired I spent half a day on that and still can't figure out how to do that. I need to make a cutout in that dress right where it's unmasked.I was trying to move it up with a Move tool but it just breaks all polygons. I try to Dynamesh it but it all becomes covered in holes. I tried slice tool and cuts through the whole thing instead of just one fold. How people make these nice dresses at all?

Hello /3/. I'm an aspiring 2D artist andI recently started picking up 3D software as part of my training. But after fiddling and diddling zbrush, keyshot and 3dsmax I'm realizing that 3D will eventually surpass 2D in terms of speed and usability. Even for animation, it takes years of skill in 2D to do what a novice can do in 3D. I can already see 3D beating the hell out of 2D in concept art. The final nail in the coffin was testing out a Rift. I realized that no matter how much I paint I will never make something as immersive as a live 3D environment. So what do I do now? Do I change careers to 3D? The 3D industry seems brutal unless you specialize in very specific software, even 2D seems more stable now. But I'm sure this will change in the future...
