Can someone make me a car that looks like the one in the great gatsby? I don't need it looking photo realistic. It just has to have the same features as the car. (silver tires on the sides, white canopy down on the back, ect.) Perferably hollow but with walls that are not paper thin. I want to send it to shapeways for 3d printing, so it being decently colored is a must. Also just make the glass portions a light blue color, as the 3d printer cannot print in clear plastic. Will pay $20 for the colored model via paypal.

I gotta ask you guys something. So I'm attending a two year program. We're learning max. Now I've learned a lot of 3d stuff from blender, so I'm mainly here studying 2D art. This summer I'm swtiching to Maya though from max for multiple reasons, but I got to ask: Does Max ever stop being a giant fucking cunt? Seriously. Blender is free, and dispite it's problems... WTF man. All these crashes, lack of good tools. How the hell can anyone justify this thing? For fucks sake, sometimes it clearly won't let me even select shit I know I should. Buttons disappear. What the god damn fuck is up with this thing? How the hell could anyone ship a program this buggy?

Hey /3/ I have a little issue here I used Maya LT 2016 the first time today, and tried out baking a simple normal map on a basic torus shape. (I know it looks like shit) So I did everything from sculpting a high poly to unwrapping the uv's (along the horizontal edges) But the final result is showing a weird seam, along the UV border edges... I dont know what causes this to happen, there are no reversed faces or UVs. It just happens everytime Hope you can help me out here. Pic related

Hello /3/ Im working on some project that requires me to add a food ball player shade doing some kick's and what not. I was thinking about one solution that could benefit me a bit the future, so here it goes. I plan to rip models from FIFA or other game like that, they have pretty decent animations and models. Yet my question is, how do I start? I found fiew programs like ninjaripper, but they all export only the meshes. Im more interested in meshes with animation. Is any of you able to help me with this topic? I would gladly learn something new. Ps. Im probably less advanced user than most of you, and Im not a part of the gaming industry.

Hey /3/, have any of you guys played around with Renderman yet? I seem to have hit a snare and would appreciate a point in the right direction from an experienced hand. I've exhausted Google to no avail and I just can't seem to get displacement mapping correct. I'm no master of Maya, but I have done DM's just fine in Mental Ray before. I've sculpted a model in Zbush and exported it, yadda yadda, I have the mesh and a displacement map for it. So, I've followed Pixar's tutorials (http://renderman.pixar.com/view/displacement-1 and http://renderman.pixar.com/view/displacement-2) however neither worked. The mesh successfully subdivides to a nice smooth surface, but it simply doesn't project the detail onto the model. I simply can't tell what I'm doing wrong. Could I trouble any of you with experience doing this to give me a little explanation-for-dummies on how to hook the map up to the subdivided mesh? I have a feeling I'm just hooking something up to an incorrect node without being aware of it. Thanks guys.

So I'm making a mask. It's styled around the kind of body armor you find in sci-fi movies (good examples here: http://drawcrowd.com/haripon/projects) but the main theme of it is a birds head (I used a Jackdaw as a reference). I modeled the main section and the beak separately, and where the two models intersect it looks too obvious. I'll do some more work on the actual models shape and add some extra details to it to make it look like an actual mask. Could somebody critique this?

I would like to be able to open fbx files in Maya by double-clicking the fbx file in the explorer. When I do that, I get an error message about unrecognized file type and i have to use "import" in maya to open the file. I activated (and autoload) the fbx plug-in in the plug-ins, but that doesn't change it. Any ideas how I can force Maya to load fbx automatically? - If you have a solution, explain it idiot-proof, please. And: How would I achieve the same thing for Blender (latest version)?

How does the light look here? I used the mental ray physical sun and sky + a portal light shader. (render time was 35 min.)
