I am incredibly new to most given softwares, and the sticky attempted to answer the question I am going to ask, but it wasn't very convincing. Of all the different softwares out there, which has the best bang for its buck? I understand that they're all relatively equal to their own right, but there must be one that has an all around smoother operating platform, while maintaining high quality work. I'd like to here from this communities perspective, as to which software is best for an absolute beginner. I do intend on learning most softwares, but to start learning one, I hope to start with the top tier software. From there I'll use whatever skills I've earned, for other softwares if need be.

Hey 3ros, Do any of you work or have any information about the industry of figure making? I'm considering using my 3D modeling skills to make some renditions of characters that are not trademarked and often disregarded, although the fans love them - local sports team's mascots, for example. I think there might be a business in this area, but i'm ignorant in what consists the public that buys these kind of toys. Do you have any idea what kind of research I should do before getting too invested into this? The idea is to make these characters - antropomorphic animals in most cases, like rooster, fox, pig, etc- in a similar aesthetic as disney infinity (pic related). I think they are very commercial and can suit both child and young adult demographic. Anyway, do you know any information that could help me out on this?

Firstly, sorry in advance, I'm sure 3dcg communities get this bullshit all the time but... I'm a professional digital illustrator/painter and I'm stepping into 3d for the first time, some of my new team projects require brush for rapid prototyping of busts for concept art etc, I work externally so I don't have anyone to go to for tech support and no amount of googling or watching youtube tutorials seems to be making any sense of zbrush for me Basically, all I want to do is sculpt. I understand there is a learning curve and I'm willing to sink a lot of time into learning the software but jesus fucking christ, it all just seems so unintuitive. Everytime I use one of the sculpt/brush tools edit mode becomes completely unavailable. So I can't even navigate around a sculpt unless I'm just dragging in some pre-made 3d model tool, it doesn't make any sense at all. Can someone please point me in the right direction here, every guide, documentation or tutorial I've found has answered precisely zero questions.

I added some basic textures to give me a better feel of things as i go. From my perspective i'm about done building up the base form (poly modeling) but when i've reached this point the cheek area seems weird to me as well as the jaw area. What's the most efficient workflow for modelling levels like this? All the small detailing and texturing seems perfect for Zbursh, but something this large seems better for Maya. Should I model pieces in Maya and export to Zbrush for detailing?
