Hello /3/ Im rigging this character in 3DS Max 2016 for the first time, and while i'm trying to rig the fingers the focus (What you press Z to center on the selected object) will set to the model instead of the finger bone, since the Physique is the model's modifier and while setting the envelopes I have to have it selected, so I can't comfortably rotate or zoom the camera. Is there a way to set focus on an unselected object? Or to set the envelopes while staying focused on the finger bone?

Hi /3/, I'm looking for some advice, read on if you think you can help. I work in the vehicle livery industry in the UK. I design liveries for vans and cars using vector based artwork (Ai). I make visuals on some fairly accurate 2D scaled drawings I have purchased and quite often the client will ask to see what their livery would look like in 3D. I really want to be able to learn how to deliver this as I think it's an awesome skill to have plus it really is going the extra mile for the client. I learnt some basics in Blender by watching tutorials and generally getting a feel for the program, I've mapped some exported SVG files onto cubes so I've done some of the groundwork. I like learning programs and generally pick anything up fairly quickly. I feel a long way off applying actual customer liveries to 3D models of vehicles, so I came to you guys for help! Does anyone know of any online tutorials which will help? Does anyone know the best place to go for 3D models of UK spec vehicles? Ideally free since I'm still learning but in the future I wouldn't mind purchasing - I know you can get some very accurate and awesome looking 3D models. The free ones are very ropey. I'm sure you guys will have some questions so I'll be around to reply

ok so like a week ago I posted about sketch up. wondering who used it and their input. For what I wanted to do and how to make it work I was told to just trash sketch up, and go with blender... well I did. I have been reading the manual. watching tutorials. after getting over the initial overwhelming sensation that I didn't know what the fuck was going on. or even how to approach it. Remaking old game textures

Any talented texture artists here that are familiar with remaking texture from old games? So far i have been making them by testing various interpolation algorithms and then create complicated batch actions for overlaying other edited and adjusted textures (either photos of proceduraly generated) and improve their quality (mostly because i've been dealing with very complicated sets of 100-150 textures). However, i'd like to know more about improving individual textures (not by overlaying other textures) on a more professional level. I've seen many redone textures, but there are no tutorials, guides or somekind of in-depth forums discussion on that topic. Obviously for such quality textures you need to take your own proper photos/textures because .jpg textures from internet are mostly bad quality and small, and retouch them with photoshop, but what kind of interpolating algorithms do you use for upscaling original - i think they have to be linear so texture would tile and be more accurate; how do you do it and what tools do you use, i'd also appriciate any tips or procedures. - pic related UT retexturing project by DieHard iirc

I need help finding an old 3d animation program that I used to play around with it a couple years ago before the great computer crash of '11, and I figure someone else here will probably remember it. It comes preloaded with a couple scenes. One scene is of a man being kicked over a balcony onto a table. The next is a man jumping to a helicopter from a rooftop. And the last one I remember is a man scaling a building with suction cups. I believe there was also a monster snatching up a running human.You could load those up and edit them or create your own animations. Please help. That program was so much fun to play with

Hey I'm new to 3DCG, but played around with blender and I am now looking to get into some more advanced animating. I want to buy/build a system specifically geared towards animating. I found a system for sale for roughly $1,000 and I'm wondering if it would be a good purchase. Specs: AMD FX 8320 3.5 Ghz 16 gigs Kingston 10700 Gigabyte 970A-D3P AMD Radeon R9 4 gig Coolermaster CM 690 II Advanced case Any advice would be appreciated as I am new to animation, and relatively new to building PC's.
