Maya to Blender

I have a few years' experience in Maya, probably 3.5 to 4, and while I like it, buying it to use commercially is just a flat out no go. So, I am thinking about going to Blender.
I have a ton of questions about Blender, and I hope you guys can answer some of them.
>Can Blender bake normal maps?
>If so, how useable or annoying is the map baking workflow?
>What is rigging, particularly humanoid rigging, like in Blender? I only really need to do basic stuff like heel and toe rigs, FK/IK switches, bone-based facial rigging, etc.
>Maya has some pretty good tools for transferring weights between one mesh and another. Does Blender do this?
>What is retopo like? I hear horror stories, but those people used older versions (2.5ish) of Blender. Will I need to go get something like TopoGun or 3d Coat or something?
>Overall, what is the usability of Blender like these days? What about stability? Other issues?
>For game asset creation targeted at the Unity and/or Unreal platforms, is there anything that's a showstopper about Blender?
