>There are people on this board, RIGHT NOW, still using ancient modeling techniques such as box modeling instead of just sculpting. What's your excuse?

hey /3 i have a very serious life changing question that i need your opinions on. so im graduating from a shitty community college in few months and i wanna take this 3D game seriously, so i really want to continue my education at gnomon school of visual effects and just want to know if you guys think its worth it. i haven't heard anything but good things about it so far. i also been told that gnomon is a grate way to get your foot threw the doors when starting out because of all the contacts and connections you make. also I watch thair live streams when they do these 4 hour long events where they bring top artists to teach stuff. they had the artists from Riot Games this week talking about importance of 2d in 3d so is it worth attending? i know a lot of people say "just be self thought its not that hard" but i kinda feel i'll develop faster and improve my skills better by having a professional point out all the mistakes i make and help me improve my skills face to face rather than just me do it myself and not know if its good or not other than people on the internet just saying "its shit"

3d college courses

How did all of you start doing 3d modelling/animating? Did you go to school for that or did you just learn all on your own? Is it possible to get a job like that? Is it worth for me to take a couple of courses in 3d, one for modelling, one for lighting and one for animation, all in 3dsmax I believe? Pic not related.

I'm trying to make the transition from hard surface modelling to organic. I tried making a base human from just a cube. Is there any way I can improve? Is this good for a first time? What could I do to improve? > pic related

/3/ help me with whatever you can. im working on a school project where i wanna create a like 15-30 sec foggy Forrest scene render and my shit looks absolutely garbage. first i tried to use high res grass and trees and it lagged so hard that my computer crashed when trying to make a small change so i moved on to using grass planes and low res trees with plane braces and not light doesn't pass threw it the trees and the grass looks shit awesome. the terrain size is pretty big yet u can see the end and the background (horizon) is pure white i tried using atmosphere to try and fog it p in the back but doesn't work since its bright white if you have any tips. tutorials or anything that can help me that would be grate. or point out anything im doing wrong. the scene isnt finish, but at this point its so awesome there is no point of continuing pic related, its the render

Some Blender help Plz

13 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
Hi! So ive been learning how to use Blender 2.74 since earlier in the year. Ive been watching different tutuorials and whatnot to figure out how to create character model from scratch. This is my Low Poly attempt and since working on the body ive moved on to the hair obviously but now I have actually made the hair a separate mesh. I thought since the body is modeled with the Mirror Modifier I should try making it separate cuz it's obv supposed to be non symmetrical, however when i move everything around the hair dosent stay with the body. How do I reattach or set the separate mesh to move along with the character body? Im pretty confused, yall's help would be appreciated.

Creating an Animation with VS C#

H/3/llo bros. Newfag here in this board because I didn't know where else to ask. So I've been been working a lot with C# lately in school, but never in a project like this. >Pic related I need to do a similar animation in VisualStudio C# but with everything drawn with vectors and a small ship in the middle so it looks like it's traveling through space. I'd really appreciate any tips on how to write this code, or even what would the Form look like. Thank you guys.

Modular Character Design

Hey guys! So I am still relatively new to CG, and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for modular character design. I'd like to set up a sort of system in which I could create my own characters with models I've created, sort of like how you create your character at the beginning of so many video games.

Anyone know what this number actually represents? I know it's a percentage of something, but wat? Need to make real precise displacement shizzle (2 3ds max height units to be exact)

Seek some help

I'm pretty sure it's going to fail... But let's try. Hey there, me and some friends are second year in an french IT school, because we're tired of making some boring queue/stack/graph pgrm, we want to make a game, the problem is, we have no skill in 3d nor 2d. So yeah... If someone wants to lend a hand, it would be cool. The game would be running on UE 4 (we're still learning on it tho) and would probably never be on the market, it's just something to kill time. In short words (because i'll get TLDR), the game would be set in a space ship, where you can move inside and control different parts of it (guns, core, helm...) and you have to explore sectors (like FTL) and change the guns, the hull. etc to survive. This game is challenging in code but we can't start without some basic assets, like the ship, the guns and the crew (and enemies). I hope someone will help us, if not, have a nice day!

Are there any guides or methods to clean up a mesh and reroute edge flow? I often end up up with streched and strangely allinged quads in my mesh, so my question is: How do I count edges? How do I clean up messy low poly topology by hand? In any 3d software. >Pic: topo turned out okayish, but could be improved on.

Just started working on a project in Unity. I have already done the Java course in CodeAcademy but it didn't give me a lot relevant to work with in Unity itself. Any good places to learn relevant commands, lines of code for Unity? I have been getting by slow but fine. Just don't want to keep googling every fucking problem. Just want to learn as much as I can. Also how easy is it to import and work with my own assets from 3Ds Max to Unity? Haven't touched that stuff at all but I have a bunch of stuff I'd like to use.
