Hey, I'm starting to get into 3d and spent some days in blender learning. What I want to do is create a semi-3d mesh over a 2d image to give it a psuedo 3d animation.(illusion of depth) However I'm having a hard time making 3d meshes with only 1 front perspective. Do you have any tips for creating meshes with limited references? Also, should I use anime studio or would blender be more suitable for this? <--3d model made from a single 2d reference, my goal.

I need help /3/ I'm on 3Dsmax obviously. I just need to wrap this mesh around the face's forehead like if it was a bandana. Problem is this shitty bend modifier won't work properly, how can I do it? when I try to turn the "gizmo" to make it bend the way I want, it goes in all directions, I can't see that the gizmo is pointed the right way.

Quick blender question. I have cyllindrical object and I'm trying to unwrap it, but the UV layout comes out all distorted and generally fucked up. In 3dsmax I would get a very neat and symmetric layout for this model, but in blender it's distorted. Wat do?

Hello /3/, I was wondering what was the most efficent way of automatic uv unwrapping for lightmaps. I create the models in Maya, then organize the regular texture uvs so that they overlap, tedious but easy, then i just duplicate the object and use them as needed. However I need non overlapping uvs for lightmaps and when dealing with large scenes that re-use the same object many many times all over the place it's no fun (and efficient) to be manually setting up each one. I was using the automatic option in Maya but this tends to create too many artifacts. Any ideas?

Viewport performance in 3DS Max

wassup all In this scene with only about 12 700 faces, my viewport starts running slow. If I go too much further it starts running like shit. I'm using 3DS Max and have only 2 modifiers on the model (editable poly and meshsmooth). What can I do to improve viewport performance? My current GPU sucks balls (Radeon HD 3450) and I'm pretty sure that's why it runs slow. I was thinking about getting an AMD FirePro V3900. Would that help? What other solution you suggest under $150?
