So I've been wondering why one should buy zBrush if you can do awesome shit in Sculptris ( https://youtu.be/OIgBVSwjdd0). Doing the retopology in 3dsmax and projecting normal maps from the original sculpture can make a pretty damn good lowpoly model for game engines and you still have it for portfolio piece. I know zBrush has a shitton of tools that Sculptris doesn't have but I wanna know your opinions on Sculptris since I'm pretty new to this 3D world.

Ok, Anyone willing to help me with this? I have a 3d printer, and I have a thing I want to make, and I do not want to use pre made parts. What it is is the the corner for a cardboard box, I'm going to glue it in place to make the thing have a bit more durability. The issue is I suck dick at all 3d programs. In fact the first thing I made was with freecad, and the way I made it was i defined every fucking edge line, then selected them and made a face, while this worked, you can imagine how fucking tedious it was. So I decided that maybe Modo would be able to get me the results I want faster. The issue is while the freecad has tutorials that dealt in very specific measurements, modo... well... shit doesn't have any, or at least nothing obvious. So my question is can anyone point me in the right direction, if not help me? If there is a better non cad program better suited for this, I'm all ears, and I want non cad because from my understanding most cad programs assume quatro or firepro and have crashing issues on non pro systems, that and for the most part, I don't require precise measurements so the tools in modo or other packages should be more then enough, the issues comes when I run into things where i do need a precise measurement.

So I've mainly been using PBR to texture my models but I saw this one guy who was probably a 6/10 texturer but he started using substance designer and his work went to a 9/10 and now I'm considering buying it but it's a heavy price of $149 and I've been debating for it for a while now. I was just wondering if anyone has used substance designer and thought it was worth the money?

hey guys. im trying to mix 2 textures together by Vertex Painting in UE4 but it doesn't let me paint where i like. it just paints in this big ugly patches. similar to when you try to texture something low poly in Zbrush. is there a way to subdivide the floor or whatever so i can go in and paint tiny water puddle, big chunks of dirt and whatever i want? P.S. side question. the wall UVs are stretched, is there a way to reset the UVs and fix it up? ty

Hi, I've been using Inventor for CAD drawings for about a year, and now I need to move around a lot and be able to use CAD software where ever I go. My current laptop is not nearly strong enough to run Inventor, and I wouldnt know where to start for finding a laptop that can handle this kind of stuff. My budget is about $1,500, and I'm looking for a windows laptop. Any suggestions?

hey /3/ my friend extracted entire runescape map and im thinking about rebuilding it in UE4 with HD textures and lighting. what do you guys think of that idea. its gonna be a pain in the ass tho cuz everything is attacked. im gonna have to detach everything and unwrap everything. trees are god awful so i might get rid of everything and replace it with speedtree trees. some parts of the city are missing (that or i accidentally passed it. i had to open up over 750 files by hand and figure out what was what. you guys know any easier way i can quickly check OBJ's? is there like a file viewer or whatever? what do you guys think of this idea?

Any good laptops to model on? I don't need to worry about rendering, I do the majority at home, but I'm gonna be out of the house a lot from now on, I wanna keep modelling/animating while I'm on the train commuting, or on work lunch-break, so preferably not a big machine. I'd also ask about laptops I can use Unreal 4 on, or Mudbox, but I dunno if that's getting a bit too ambitious. Either way, I'd need something small, but capable enough to model without chugging.
