What /is/ zbrush? What is it for? Is it just for sculpting an already created model? I'm a newb, just been working in blender so far, but I'm curious since I see it mentioned a lot.

Im using solidworks trying to cut this model into a bladed edge, Im trying to use lofted cut to capture the curved contours in the cut. Keep on getting errors no matter how I mix and match the guided curves and the profiles. Any ideas?

Drawing a 3d model?

3 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: ]
So I've been trying to work my 2d sketching skills into 3d modeling, and I'm in over my fucking head. When I finally found an app that seemed perfect for my skillset (uMake), I found out that it's iPad only and I am not about to go buy an ipad to do what it is I want. Googling things such as 'draw 3d models' and '3d sketching' bring up the same product pages with no actual insight as to how to make the jump from 2d to 3d. I was wondering if /3/ had any sort of wisdom or insight as to the best track I should be following for drawing(via drawing tablet) a 3d model and learning from there. From my own delving into the subject, CAD seems to be the keyword I'm looking for, but as I said, I'm in over my head, and haven't seen much in the way of clear answers from google. To be clear, I want to use my DRAWING TABLET to draw the lines I want to exist as a model. This is where my skillset lies, and finding good tutorials on how to do this has been practically impossible with google shoving product pages in my face with every keyword set I try. So I come to the sages for advice

I'm using solidworks and trying to make ridges on the inside of this shell, but can't figure out how. I tried creating a bunch of thin rectangles on one surface inside and raising them, but I didn't know how to copy them to the other surfaces and have them equally spaced. Anyone have any ideas?

YO how the fuck do you focus on a certain object in 3ds max so every time i try to rotate around the object my camera dosn't go all over the fucking place cause me to literally lose the object on my screen. SHITS SO FUCKING ANNOYING! like in zbrush if you alt + right click on any part of the model your camera rotates around it.

Are nvidia cards still considered as requirement status for Max and Maya?

I have 3.5 years experience as a 3d generalist. I model props/environments, rig props/do light character rigging, texture, and write tools to speed up workflow. I've trained and managed others and have come up with pipelines for projects in my studio. I know it's impossible to say without seeing the quality of my work, but based on that description alone, do i fall under 'entry level' or 'junior level ' artist? What defines each? What defines a senior level artist?

ptgui: is anyone familiar with the individual image editing function in ptgui. having alignment issues. when i edit images to line up, there is no save function and the new alignment doesn't save when stitching.

Greetings /3/! /b/ sends you this lovely bomb! What you do with it will depend on how well you can achieve your gets! Here's how it works: Singles do nothing. Doubles send the bomb to the board of your choosing, I will be monitoring the thread to ensure the bomb ends up in the right place immediately, Triples detonate the bomb. Quadruples or greater will duplicate the bomb and sends it to the two boards of your choosing. Best of luck, and may the gets be on your side!

I know you have some of your renders from when you started modelling. Let's see em. Optional: Post alongside current skill work.

Any oldfags here who used to use CAD, raytracing, or other 3DCG software on very old platforms? I'd love to hear what software you used and see any art if you still somehow have it. My uncle used to use pic related on the Atari ST (and also CAD 3D, CyberStudio, and QRT) to make things and I was always blown away by the results even though they look so incredibly primitive these days. If there's any interest I can try and dig out his old renderings.
