Seriously? Im getting mixed messages people are saying either yes or no, I've met a few people from uni aswell who have ended up in indie places and saying they love it, they just go into work eat pastries and chill all day theres no pressure. The only place I find that they treat you like crap is when the studio has bad management.

How to texture paint in Blender 2.7 with no difference in opacity on the brush/pixels? (I'm attempting low res, low poly) Are F-Curves necessary in animation?

So, I'm kinda new to this whole 3d thing. Why are 3d models so horrifyingly expensive? they cost more than the software they used to make it in. For instance, these two models cost 1600 USD http://www.plasticboy.co.uk/store/Human_Male_Female_Anatomy_Complete_V05.html I realize advertising companies make use of these models, but Honestly I think it would probably be cheaper to hire your own artist. Is there any justification for this? or maybe I'm the crazy one...?

I am about to start a course in 3D design and will be needing a laptop for the first time in my life. I know where I stand with desktop specs but laptops GPUs and specs fly way over my head. I'm guessing i5+ would be ok in a lappy? Can anyone tell me what an okay setup would be for a laptop that's capable of 3D work. £500-700 budget.

Anyone taking part in this? Im definitely going to start. The tool is garbage but anyone who can model in another program can easily just use the garbage model as a mesh and improve it. The crutch of using iclone seems to be scaring off a lot of the better modellers on polycount so its a chance for us newbies to win something for a fucking change. Also so far most entries are shit. How long does it takes to be good and to find a job in 3D industry? I know theres factors like how much youre dedicated, or talent, or how much you study, that stuff. But in general, how long you guys think you will be able to feel like a professional at modelling or animation? Do you have a job? How long you waited until you got that job? Months? Years?
