Tried using xNormal and Max to bake normal maps. They don't work in tangent space but in local xyz. What am I doing wrong ? I need tangent space for game engines right ? Pic related, seems to be working perfectly in local xyz.

Hey \3\. I'm looking to make a very large space battle scene in 3dsmax similar to pic related. The scene will contain lots of high poly multi-kilometer ships and also small fighter craft 2-10m large. I've done a lot of scenes and models for max and even dabbled in character animation a bit, but nothing to this scale. Last time I tried to play around on a large scale max went berserk and eventually crashed. What units should I use for something like this and more importantly how could I keep the scale reasonable enough for max to handle but still large enough for the scene? Any other tips or tricks to how one would go about doing this would also be really helpful

What the fuck happened to all the level editors? Is this why modern video game levels are just straight hallways with pretty models and QTE cutscenes? I'm trying to find a level editor that I can use to make levels but the only ones I can find are from the 2000's (not counting ones that are built into game engines like UDK). I was going to get Cartography Shop because that was the best one to my knowledge back in the day but it's been pulled from its website. The other problem is that people don't seem to understand why level editors are important, everybody thinks that you can just do the same thing in 3DS Max or Maya and say that they're obsolete because the levels look blocky. Well, no Shit Sherlock! The point is to design the layout in 3D after you've drafted the 2D layout to make sure everything works and then place your assets on top of it! Even COD Babby OPs 2 uses CSG cut geometry in a special version of Quake's Level Editor to design their levels. So in short /3/ where can I find a good level editor?
