Hey anons, I'm a part of an indie dev team and our animator is having an issue with multiple layers of clothing. I'm just going to paste what he wrote on some other forums where no one fucking answered >I would like some help with cloth rigging, specifically when it's multiple clothes on one character, that have to move semi-independently like clothes do in real world . >For example a character that is wearing a shirt and a vest, when he raises his arms the shirt would fit and follow his body while his more rigid vest would be raised by the shoulders. >I'd like to rig clothes that are bound to the joints, but I also want to be able to move them with controllers, like "Malcolm's" rig. >Thanks in advance Basically we don't want there to be retarded unnatural stretching and underlaying layers of clothes to move when only upper layers of clothing should move. You see, I am trying to break into modelling and want to model animals and any living things for that matter. My question to you is do you gentlemen (and ladies?) venture to a select few databases for your references? I've tried my luck at pinterest only to yield a minor handful of content that can actually be used. I am looking, in particular, for orthographic cross sections of various critters and the like. It would make my day if there was some website which served such content in a manner that you type, "shark," in the entry slot and out pops zoological data representing the shark from all angles. alright faggots, fact is, i need a new rig to render my shit 3d artwork on. :) current workstation is very aged, beyond the point of upgrading, needs a complete rebuild. i already work a normie 9-5, but most of that $ goes to mortgage, bills, new baby, etc. makes it kind of hard to put aside any spare $$ for a new rig. anyone on /3/ know a good way to earn some passive or mostly-passive spare $ to build a new workstation? i would just work nights or get a second job, but newborn makes that impossible right now. legit answers appreciated, but this is /4chan/ so i'll take the kekshame that will inevitably follow.

Hello I have 3D Studio Max and Blender. Would it be better to learn 3D Studio Max first and then adapt to Blender? Or better to learn Blender first and then adapt to 3D Studio Max? I want to learn how to work with models so that I can add mods to the games I play. I would end up having to use both but want to specialize/watch tutorials for one to start. pic unrelated

I've seen many people make texture maps such as pic related and something im struggling with mostly is whether to create textures before the UV'in or whether i should make a map such as this and then put the UVs on parts of my buildings to match to the correct textures? How do most of you guys do it? Create Textures first or UV maps then texture the maps in photoshop? I feel like im missing a step or doing something slightly wrong when it comes to UV and texturing. Would love it if anyone could explain their process when they are making modular houses. Hope this makes sense.

Hey all, in 3 weeks I'm going to be without internet (outside of my phone) for 3 months while I care for a sick relative. Decided I'll learn 3d. Because I dont want to deal with keygens and shit breaking Im 99% sure I'll go with blender. I have a decently capable gaming computer (4770k + r9 290 + 16gb ram) and would like to know what I should download/buy/watch now in order to make everything easier. My goal would be to just know how to do this shit, I like the idea of both objects and characters and while I don't think I'll be the next pixar or anything but I just want to maximize the oportunity here. Can anyone advise me or ask me the questions you think you would have wanted someone to ask you?

Is me, or 2D animation is simply superior to 3D? >huh duh amateur garbage I'm not talking about amateurs, the best examples of 2D animation always comes as more vivid or more organical than the best 3D shit. Simply compare paprika to 3D animations and they come as garbage. Of course 3D is superior to make backgrounds and effects and fluids, but I'm talking about characters.

Hello /3/ , What kind of setup allows me to have this kind of result? I'm too noob in 3d so I'm rendering in keyshot but the setup should be similar in any engine.. I'm trying to render a perfume bottle in a dark background but I want the liquid to be 'lit' like the example above. Any tips?
