Hey everyone! How do you guys generate normal maps(and other maps) from an image texture? I've been trying to work with different softwares on this, but he result always looks kind of bad. In the software everything seems beautiful but when I take it to Marmoset/Unity/Any other 3D package the result is horrible. I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing wrong. If you guys have any tutorial/tips, I would be really grateful.

What software would you recommend for creating assets that are reusable and adaptable / scalable for different scenes? I'm doing Archviz for a company building mostly large retail stores for the same brands and such the design is always more or less the same because the brands want their stores to be recognizable and to display their CI. To put it simply, I have to model a lot of large, similar looking box like buildings that vary in size but not in design. So I figured I could save a lot of time if I had a base model of these stores that I could just fit to certain boundaries. But I'm not sure how to go about this. I guess Grasshopper could work, I already set up a script for one recurring element. But I'm curious to see what you guys would recommend or if you have any advice or experience to share.

So, here is the thing. I need a machine that can handle animation, modeling, rendering, editing and post production AND i need it to be mobile. I don't really care about the weight because the reason i need it to be mobile is not to take it on trips or whatever but because i just move a lot between cities and dissembling and reassembling it every few moths is a fucking pain. Need to travel light(er) so i am thinking an all in one or a laptop (now that they get full video cards) may be a choice. Just a few years ago this would have been silly to even consider... I do have a budget between 2k and 3k because there are some extra fees on muy country for this kind of stuff. I am thinking an I7 with a GTX 1070/1080 and 16 gb of ram would do the trick for now... So, what do you guys think? can a mobile workstation be the main workstation? Any suggestions? thanks in advance.

Is Blender good to modeling/make games/animate? - Blender is open source, and you can use it for free. - I've been practicing low poly with it and is easy as hell. - You can program in Python with it, and create games (I don't know if this language is great tho). - You can also animate with it. - I have it downloaded on Steam, so it updates automatically (I think this is important). It feels like an all-in-one program, sounds great! Do you have any ideas and/or comparisons? Is it possible to just do everything with Blender? (and maybe Photoshop to create textures?) I am just wondering if there is something more convenient and/or easier.
