Hey /3/, it's not often I come looking for help but this is a subject that's been having me tear my hair out for a while now.
I can't seem to grasp making good-looking long hair. Maya's nHair confuses me, so I've turned to polygonal hair.
A lot of my classmates (I'm in a Uni DA program) are opting to have their characters wear helmets/not have hair, but I really don't want to compromise my character's design for the sake of being easy, at least until time limits force me to.
Pic related is what I'm getting so far. Granted I've only placed some hair cards and made a basic color texture with an alpha, but I still feel like I'm on the wrong track here. Do I just need to keep adding hair cards? Are my hair cards too thin?
Any help on the subject of hair would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, im trying to import this .obj to edit in ZBrush, but everytime i import it, some faces get deleted, im not too sure how to explain it.
Pic very related.
I've tried converting everything to a triangle then re-importing, but the same thing happens again.

So I need a little help that google has failed me, or I have failed to understand how the term is used to search it.
I have a book rig that is fully setup. The book has two shaders on it. One for the pages which i want to stay as one shader but the covers is set up on a different shader. So i can just set the textures and create textures for covers.
The UV's are lined up and the Textures are shaped to the UV's. that aside, I've noticed that some rigs have an attribute that changes the texture and only the texture. example, andyrig clothes change attributes. I've got two scenarios in my head as to do this, but i dont know how to set driven the textures to the attribute, (and if changing the textures would just do it to one shader.) my other scenario is similar but with multiple shaders and having the attributes select the shader ae changing the texture.
My problem is how to set the one shaders for a multiple texture attribute, Or the process in which to do a multi shaders with multiple texture attribute changer.
My one draw back is because there are 2 shaders to one mesh(pages, and cover shaders) will multiple shader still abide by the shader given the polygon space, allowing me to keep the one pages shader to the mesh, while i change a select amount of polygons for the other shader.
TL:DR help on finding an attribute texture changer for this book rig. For Maya.
