any idea why the floor texture isn't showing up in 3d perspective view? I'm using Maya. That's the grid on the floor, btw, not the texture. You can see the texture perfectly fine in the UV texture editor view

I know you bear with this question all the time 3 but bear with me for a minute 3rd World contry not so poorfag here (Mexico) Im currently at half way to finish my Electronics Engineering Career problem?, Im the best at my class, but the true is that im bad at electronics in general, its just that my classmates are even worse than me so they end up making me look like the "Top Student" I go to a public school (IPN) which is regarded as the "best" at electronics at in my country, we got good equipment, good teachers good, in general a good school, heck i even have a schoolarship, its close to my home, and since its public i pay almost nothing every semester I could spend up to 60k USD going to the "best" private school here (ITESM) or any other school to learn anything related with animation and CG (education here is still not as expenssive as in the US) but the real question is should i? there is a very weak industry of animation/vydia here... just as dead as the electronics one... and paying for to learn these skills well... it doesnt make sense since the portfolio and what you can do is what matters, what should i do ? my current school barely gives me free time to practice CG and all that kind of thing that i wanted to do pic related the mini lab i built thanks to my education being free

Hi /3/ I would appreciate some suggestions by you 3D artists about how to organize my learning agenda I'm trying to become good at 3D and so far I've got to this point: >proficient with modeling >proficient with rigging and UV mapping >know basic animation theory and tecnhniques >bad at texturing, can't do shaders at all >learning Mental Ray, definitely not nearly there yet What are my top priorities for the future in your opinion to complete my formation? Currently working on this character for a studio and fiddling with toon lines to get the look that they want. There are two lines there that shouldn't be there: the line in the middle of the face and one at the back of the overalls. I've tried different settings, but those two lines won't go away. The head is made from a sphere that was cut in half, then extruded into a cylinder. The overall straps were made with extruding and merging vertices. The only thing I can figure is that for some reason Maya thinks there's a border there when it doesn't exist anymore. Any ideas on how to fix? Using Maya 2013.

why is it that meshmixer gets a fuckton of updates even after getting bought by autodesk while pixologic gutted out sculptris and let it bleed to death? some sources say dr. petter (programmer of sculptris) got kicked out of the pixologic team after only a few months (so it really looks like they were only in for the delicious tech)

I wonder if anyone knows whether there is a nurbs tool that would solve my problem or i building it wrong? I want a very clean topology for my car. However i got stuck on this part of the car. Problem is that i can't connect the two pieces to hold the shape and both is needed. The door and the wheel arch. I need a nice blend between those. Thanks in advance.

/3/ I am pulling my hair out. Why is this happening! I have changed the pivot point for this object. I have set it to where I want the object to rotate about, but everytime I try to rotate it rotates about the center. Can anyone help or shed some insight?

so, some of you might remember me from my thread ages ago. well i finally ordered the 3d print for the head... the body is on hold... probably indefinitely as the price to 3d print it would be too great, and my brain just isn't ready for the design issues surrounding making doll joints. will post pics when head arrives. the cap is a lid for the head which can be taken off for insertion of eyes, etc. it's probably 1/5th the size of the head, but costs more than half as much. utter bullshit if you ask me. now i just need to buy a resin casting kit.

Hi /3/ I need your advice. I'm getting into the world of the pixel art using Gimp. I got some ideas for a new 2D beat em up videogame. The characters animations will be created using MyPaint and Gimp. I need a software that let me use these sprites freely for an old school videogame style. Like a genesis or a snes game. But Im not sure what game engine I should use for a 2D videogame. I know about Blender, but I dont need something so sofisticated. It would be great if I could use an open source engine in Linux. Anybody remembers that crysis ripoff from that dickhead wannabe studioboss about a year ago? The main character looked something like a guy from crysis named something along the lines of shadow. The game looked like trash and so did the page. And the studio was called something with snake ... cobra ... snakebite? Can't remember.
