Anybody here know anything about CAT rigs in 3ds Max? I’ve been trying to learn and understand CAT rigging for a project I’m working on, and I’ve hit a big snag. The preset walk/run cycle animations within CAT don’t look right on my character at all, and I really needed to make my own cycles instead of using their’s. After some research I found out that I could save and load animations on my CAT rig by right-clicking the rig. My understanding was that I could create a walk cycle in an Absolute Layer, then after I’ve moved my character to its appropriate spot within the scene, load the walk cycle in and loop it. The problem is, when I load the walk cycle, the body freaks out and contorts in a way to match the original location of the animation (pic). I’ve also tried to turn the body to the side to have it walk in a different direction, but the footsteps are still set to go in their original direction instead of the one the body is facing. Example: I want my character to walk forward, but the legs are dead-set on going left. Is there something I’m missing? Is it possible to fix this?

We’re a student game development team making "The Maestros" from August 2013 to May 2014 in the USC Final Games program. Final Games teams finish a game in a year, and have the opportunity present to industry professionals at USC’s Demo Days, and sometimes even at GDC or E3. We get press coverage as well. What is The Maestros? It’s a Real Time Strategy (RTS) game where players control human characters and the armies of minions they produce. These cuddly and mildly vicious little creatures, or bumbling, steaming robots can be used to antagonize your opponent or to gather precious resources from around the map. Resources can then be used to transform your minions into menacing weapons of devastation! The goal is to use creative strategies to wipe your opponent off your island for good, hording all the spoils for your kinsmen! Hi guys! i'm working on 3dsmax 2012, and i ended with this "type A" objects that i m trying to fix so they looks like the "type B" for just one object it's pretty easy using rotate and reset Xform. but i've got like 2000 of them... I'm veteran of C++, intermediate in 3d modeling, and want to try making a 3d game alone, with zero expences. I don't know much about 3d engines, but Blender's simulations don't satisfy me. I'm thinking of Unity or Ogre. Which is better for me, what are pros of both?

Why are these subdivisions necessary? Or they aren't? I just figured they look the same on the UV map, with or without these ,and since the object is not bending or anything why people fill stuff like that, straight cilinders, etc... with these loops?
