How do I rip PSX 3D objects?

I would like to try my hand at some very low polygonal meshes and low-res texture. For that end, I would like to observe where exactly the artists laid their edges or decided to give detail through texture instead. If possible, it would be useful to export it to blender. Unless there are already some stuff available. I'd be particularly interested in Squaresoft games. Also, second request. I was thinking, similarly to pixel art(ists) (and I am not counting most of the shitty lazy "retro" indie games) is this low polygon/texture res. a graphical style? Are there any artists that do this? I love detail just as the next guy, but I feel that there WAS some cleverness so it would appear they would be a lot more detailed.

I know it's a bit silly to ask here, but is anyone using an AMD FirePro v7900 / v5900 graphics card? I'm doing research on unlocking the newer generation Radeon cards into FirePro so that we can have non-gimped performance in 3D modeling applications and I need some data from a real card.

hi /3/, i'm gonna do a 3d short and i'm just pitching ideas on how i'm gonna do dynamics (or IF i'm gonna do dynamics at all) i'm aiming for a semi-cartoonish style, and i want some simple dynamics for hair and maybe clothes. the scene is set in a bus, so i'm also using dynamics on the several hanging objects around. my question to you, (using maya primarily) how should I set up the hair for a girl, simple planes with ncloth? joints with spline IK or something? what is really the simplest technique? for my male character, i'm only making his fringe dynamic have anyone tried the new bonus tools for maya 2014, the dynamic joint stuff?

what software do i need to pirate to model and texture stuff for interiorsci fi design? (like for example in pic related) i "acquired" zbrush and its awesome and everything but i don't see it being handy for anything other than sculpting and designing organic characters or maybe weapons and shit. not so much for environments. from my research so far it seems modo and 3ds max would be the best options? which one is the easiest to use and is the more stable/lightweight program? plz halp

Hi fellas, I'm going on a video game venture (pic related) and am thinking about just looking around my college for people to help me complete it and share in however much money it ends up making. But I am not very used to the arts sector of my college, and so I am wondering of what I should expect from juniors - senior students? I know it varies from school to school and from person to person, but on average what can a junior or senior studying 3d art be expected to do? Do you learn animation? Decent texturing? I'm mostly worried about not being able to find anybody who can do some decent animations

Pixel artist job

http://www.research.rutgers.edu/~timgerst/ My friend told me to go into pixel art. He said how there are more jobs in 2D i.e. since mobile and stuff and that 3D art is going to die in the future. Now his job is dead. A computer algorithm can do better, than all his work. In a few year he will be out of work. Was wondering, do you think this could be done for 3D? How long will it take for an Computer scientist to make your job redundant? Pic related, took my 3 minutes to make.

Anyone here a regular contributor? I'm looking at picking up a new hobby and was wondering if someone could point me in the direction to start making things for in-game use; particularly for D2.

Hi /3/ I tried to show my game to /v/ yesterday but they didn't like it. Would you like to take a look at it? It's seriously great Here's a link to play it (it requires unity web player because it's made in unity) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/32531558/WebPlayer/WebPlayer.html and a teaser trailer, just in case www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhtP76xS3Eo

how bad did I do? refferenced some google images for the face and tried my best to keep the poly count low. I didn't succeed I need to cut down the number of faces more I'm sure but for now I think I'd like some critique. rip it a new one (can't have holes though this is n64 graphics)

/3/ i want to buy a kickass screen. I know Mac Panels are cool but they are overpriced and in fact just use IPS technology. So i don't really care about having a glowing apple behind my screen, i just need a good quality screen. Can you help me out? What to buy? What is overpriced? What is great quality? Thanks.

Sup, bros? I'm a beginner and the sticky is closed so I can't ask this question there I'm not going to ask how I do something mega complicated because I've only been playing around with blender for a few weeks. I just have a few questions. First of all, where can I find a decent and up-to-date blender tutorial? They're all either shit and some 13 year old captured it at 240p or they're 5 years old and the UI layout has changed so much they've become obsolete. And lastly, when I attempt to import a .dae file (I want to mess around with it) it just won't show up after I open it. afaik the file is fine and there weren't any errors, it just want open. Thanks in advance.

Alright, I downloaded Action Movie Essentials 2 from video CoPilot, which is basically a collction of pre-keyed stock videos often used in after effects (Explosions, blood splatter, etc) for those of you that don't know. They are all .MOV quicktime files that are coded in the PNG format. For some reason, whenever I import a file, it will appear in the project, but the thumbnail will always be black. And then, whenever I try to add it to the composition, it freezes after effects. It goes unresponsive, and stays like that in an infinite loading loop. I've looked everywhere for a solution, but I can't find anything.
