why is vray adv giving me such shitty and innacurate results compared to vray rt gpu render. no matter what i change in the gi settings it still gives shitty results in vray adv. the scene is an upclose of a brick (not supposed to be) and i have distributed network render if that helps

I'm thinking of getting ZBrush Character Sculpting: Volume 1 from amazon because I can't find the download link on the internets. Is this book good for a beginner who only has experience with one scene? The scene being this ->> >>364928 Would I be able to follow this book step by step? I was able to look through the first pages of this book on Amazon and it looked like it kinda skipped around a little. Is this book decent?

Hey, /3/. Maya noob here who just upgraded from 2009 to 2013 and now I have a problem with the bridge tool who is seriously pissing me off: When using the bridge tool to bridge to edges like in the picture, border edges are created and I cant for the fucking life of me get rid of them without deleting all the surrounding geometry and rebuilding it, merging verts does nothing and neither does cleanup with default or all settings enabled. Right now im just extruding one edge and then manually snapping the vertices to their new home and welding, but I really miss the bridge tool. Tried deleting the maya folder in my documents, playing with the bridge tool settings. Thanks in advance.

okay so I have this sphere here and when I put it into unity the sphere becomes transparent from the inside. Is there anyway i can fix this or get around it?

Hi, a quick question for those who are familiar with UDK. It's about water caustics, I've been looking up on how to add caustics to my scene, but the tutorials I watched required my entire scene to be underwater. I'm creating a terrain which consists of a river and a forest, so my question to you: How do I place the caustics in the river without it affecting the forest? There must be another solution rather than placing a gazillion tiny lights with the caustics material applied to them?

Do you guys think that re-making parts of old stopmotion-like kids shows in 3D would be a good exercise for a somewhat of a beginner? Also what shows would be good ones to try? I can't recall very many. Some that I know are Bob The Builder, Pat & Mat, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Postman Pat.

So I propose a new one (and slightly less extravagant, so it's actually doable) Rather than pic related Basically I propose we remodel the box art of a game. From start to finish - entirely all /3/'s creation. Anything from SNES to Now as long as it's not overly ambitious and doable. The idea came from me, thinking of remodelling some Final Fantasy IX characters, and then I thought, how about I model them all and remake the box art for the game. So taking that idea, maybe one of you has a better game cover art that would be fun to collaborate on. Basically post some of your favourite box arts and lets get a voting thread going. Hopefully we find one we all like.

Hey /3/, I want to export a model from blender to 3dsmax with all the textures, bones, etc. still intact, how do I do that? I'd import the model directly into 3dsmax but the plugin doesn't exist for that, so I have to import it to blender first. Fuck blender, I can't work with that thing...

Do any of you make money from your work that you do in spare time? I've been doing 3D for a while, not with the view to making any money, but it's just good fun to make stuff with it. However, making some profit (Even only small amounts) would be nice. So, how much do you make, if anything? How do you do it, what kind of stuff do you make, etc?

Hi /3/ I need some tips and/or advice on tracing a model with using images as a base.
