Hey, /3/. Maya noob here who just upgraded from 2009 to 2013 and now I have a problem with the bridge tool who is seriously pissing me off: When using the bridge tool to bridge to edges like in the picture, border edges are created and I cant for the fucking life of me get rid of them without deleting all the surrounding geometry and rebuilding it, merging verts does nothing and neither does cleanup with default or all settings enabled. Right now im just extruding one edge and then manually snapping the vertices to their new home and welding, but I really miss the bridge tool. Tried deleting the maya folder in my documents, playing with the bridge tool settings. Thanks in advance.

Hey /3/, total noob here. I just have a quick question about textures. So I have this simple object that I for some reason cannot get the texture to apply to. I don't understand what the problem is since the UV map lines up exactly with the texture I made in Photoshop. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Hey /3/ I really love shading, rendering, texturing but don't care for modelling. Does anyone here have a simple prop they'd be willing to share? Something that is decently modelled, and not too complicated, like a gun, skull, sword, iphone, etc. I just want something neat to play with on my off-time, and I can give all the shaders, textures, everything back to you to keep and you can love it and hug it and cherish it forever. hey /3/ i havent seen pretty much any rigging threads around here so im not really sure if any of you will know but ive been learning rigging for a couple of months now and i was wondering where to get good looking models to rig? yes ive heard of google, but most free models are pretty bad. and since i want to get my reel ready i didnt want it to consist of nothing but models from tutorials. which i assume would be bad. is my only option buying models from sites like turbosquide?

Hi, a quick question for those who are familiar with UDK. It's about water caustics, I've been looking up on how to add caustics to my scene, but the tutorials I watched required my entire scene to be underwater. I'm creating a terrain which consists of a river and a forest, so my question to you: How do I place the caustics in the river without it affecting the forest? There must be another solution rather than placing a gazillion tiny lights with the caustics material applied to them?

Do you guys think that re-making parts of old stopmotion-like kids shows in 3D would be a good exercise for a somewhat of a beginner? Also what shows would be good ones to try? I can't recall very many. Some that I know are Bob The Builder, Pat & Mat, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Postman Pat.

/3/ It's been a long time since a collaboration project was suggested. So I propose a new one (and slightly less extravagant, so it's actually doable) Rather than pic related Basically I propose we remodel the box art of a game. From start to finish - entirely all /3/'s creation. Anything from SNES to Now as long as it's not overly ambitious and doable. The idea came from me, thinking of remodelling some Final Fantasy IX characters, and then I thought, how about I model them all and remake the box art for the game. So taking that idea, maybe one of you has a better game cover art that would be fun to collaborate on. Basically post some of your favourite box arts and lets get a voting thread going. Hopefully we find one we all like.

Hey /3/, I want to export a model from blender to 3dsmax with all the textures, bones, etc. still intact, how do I do that? I'd import the model directly into 3dsmax but the plugin doesn't exist for that, so I have to import it to blender first. Fuck blender, I can't work with that thing...
