ollo, decided to dedicate my summer to learning ZBrush, and this is what turned out in the end. I would like to know some tips/tricks in composition and rendering in Zbrush/ PS. Applicable to this piece. Likewise, general critiques are very welcome -- something that I can improve on for later time. hey, /3/, decided to get off my break from modeling to give it a shot before college starts in a short while. ran into something I didn't know about today, though. in pic 2 you can see the basic poly in red, but in pic three I highlighted the line the designer cut that goes through it in blue. It doesn't seem to add a geometry to the model. I wanted to know what the point of using these cuts through all of his models were? What's the improvement it makes to the model?

Hey /3/, so I've made this game ready base character model and I'm trying to create armor for him. I threw together a helmet base model but now I can't figure out how to go about sculpting the helmet. The human model took plenty of time and was an organic form, so it wasn't too bad to make. tl;dr: How do I proceed about creating a helmet for this guy with high res normal maps and all? (He's already textured and game ready.)

ok /3/ here's the deal. I had tried to install Maya, zbrush and all those candy software you like. But, they crash, I have to use windows xp because I have a legacy computer (1GB ram with intel celeron 430). I don't live in the first world, so is expensive to get a new 300US computer just to learn to make shit. So, I became a blenderfag and I would like to be a blenderfag because I have linux and I would prefer to make gold with FLOSS software (GIMP, krita, inkscape, audacity, alchemy, mypaint) using Lubuntu. So, I want your help. I want other blendefags to show me the best youtube blender tutorials they find. Also, I would like to receive recommendations about DVDs on cgpeers to become a master blenderfag.

So I've recently begun modelling with 3DS Max, and at the moment, I'm the process of adjusting/reworking a car model.. and I'm having a fairly consistent issue that I can't seem to find/describe properly in google, in order to find the answer. I try to use Element Selection (in 3DS Max 2014) when at all possible, since it tends to be fairly intuitive for the most part, but when selecting certain things, I get "jaggy" edges on one or more sides. Basically, it's grabbing the faces around these edges, instead of the entire polygon. I realize this can be caused by edges not actually being matched up "perfectly", but I want to be able to fix these, or at least modify what the element group is. The picture is what I'm talking about. That selection is the one I get. I want to grab all of the other faces where the "jaggy" selection is. I can obviously do this manually.. and I usually have to. Is there any way that I can like, "merge" these selections into one "element" for the sake of selection? Yes, I also use selection groups and such for larger areas.. but this particular thing on the tire is something I've got ALL OVER the car.. and it's causing annoyance/issues during selection and UVW Unwrapping alike. I realize I'm dumb, and probably missing an obvious fix.. but attach/weld aren't options with this particular situation. Any ideas?

Anyone want to critique this particle rendering I did? I spent the last three hours working on it to test the volume capabilities of my renderer, and the majority of those three hours were spent going back-and-forth doing little tweaks and minor touches to get it the way I wanted, but only wound up with this in the end. And said end, I'm both unsatisfied and uncertain about whether it genuinely looks like red clouds/smoke or not. It still feels off and peculiar to me somehow.
