Its over. Houdini is finished. Simulate any frame, any slice, nodal, ice-like, stay in maya 100% of the time. SideFX is shaking in their boots right now. Hey /3/ since it looks like 3ds max is going nowhere in terms of VFX, i decided to finally switch to houdini. I think I'm gonna use it for destruction, dynamics and maybe fluids for now (being used to fumeFX, TP and all the good Thinkbox shit). Do you have any good tutorials / masterclasses regarding houdini you would recommend? Thought about starting with DT, since I like the "very basic" tuts from them and then maybe do smth. from FXphd. pic unrelated

Hey /3/, so the game I'm modding only shipped with plugins/sdk for exporting from the ancient 3ds max 9. Anyway..long story short I updated my mobo/cpu combo which made me re-activate Windows and break the crack for Max 9, and I can't seem to re-activate it via the method that work when I initially installed it. I'm sure it has to do with the FlexLM shit that I simply cannot understand. Would anyone care to help? If someone helps, I do have a random collection of texture discs and stuff found on the Interwebs that I'd find some way to upload. It's not exactly light at ~22 GB though.Maybe, I can piece it out, if anyone wants a particular set. Pic Related

zbrush question thread? how long did it take you to get use to the ui? is there a way to make it start in a windowed mode? every time it starts up its full screen, and because there is no obvious options menue... and is there a way to scrap what you have and start new? being unable to find a new file button, i have to close and reopen it... which gets annoying... is there an options menu?

ollo, decided to dedicate my summer to learning ZBrush, and this is what turned out in the end. I would like to know some tips/tricks in composition and rendering in Zbrush/ PS. Applicable to this piece. Likewise, general critiques are very welcome -- something that I can improve on for later time. hey, /3/, decided to get off my break from modeling to give it a shot before college starts in a short while. ran into something I didn't know about today, though. in pic 2 you can see the basic poly in red, but in pic three I highlighted the line the designer cut that goes through it in blue. It doesn't seem to add a geometry to the model. I wanted to know what the point of using these cuts through all of his models were? What's the improvement it makes to the model?
