In max, is there a way to make it so that in edit poly, when I have a vertex/edge/poly selected, I can use _ + click and drag to create a new adjacent vertex/ edge or extruded polygon?
Manually going and clicking a face, going to extrude, then extruding is a pain in the ass.
3dsMax Cut tool issue

I'm fairly new to 3d modelling, and I'm having an issue.
I'm not sure if this is a setting i have misplaced or an issue with 3dsmax 2012 itself, but the cut tool refuses to cut into the polygon. I want to make new vertices to more easily shape the object in question, and then cut them in to quads. however the cut tool is only letting me select the outer edge of the object - the only exception to this rule is if I create some vertices on the inside and then cut to them, but I can still not cut to the edges on the inside of the polygon, only the vertices I make.
It's gotten quite frustrating, google doesnt seem to know what the problem is, so I'm hoping someone here will.
this object in question is an editable poly, supposedly anyway.
