/3/ I can't into smooth meshes. I know the main facial topology loops, but it doesn't mean anything when I can't keep a smooth mesh. Look at this mesh to the left. How could someone possibly manage all those vertices and make sure that each one isn't out of place? I've used Maya, Blender, 3DS Max, and XSI and I can't make a head. Every time I try making one, it looks awful - why? Lots of reasons. Maybe something isn't as round as it should be - so I move it, which ruins some other part of the mesh, maybe something doesn't line up when I'm filling in parts of the mesh and I need to create more geometry WHOOPS now there's a crease that I'll never be able to get rid of. What do I do, /3/? Any advice for creating smooth heads?

All of the rendering capabilities of typical engineering programs are total shit; I'd like to start exporting my stuff into some sort of 3d studio modeler with mental ray, super-fine material/map control, control of shaders, etc. So what is a good pipeline for working this way?

hay, /3/traptos, nead your suggestion for home render farm, what is more efficient: buy 4-6 pre owned servers with 2-4 xeons (2.8-3.1ghz)? Or to build 2-4 with i5 intels? Mostly using for C4D, Nuke, maybe for AE multi frame rendering.... whats in your minds? pic is related...

Hi /3/, I'm too dumb for box-modeling, but I like how you can start from a low resolution object and move towards a higher resolution mesh. I've never been good with moving all those vertices to fit everything and I think it'll be easier with box modeling. I'm having a lot of trouble retrofitting a cube to fit facial edgeloops. I know where they're supposed to be, but I can't figure out how to turn a box into them. Any advice, /3/?

Having scrolled through some threads everything seems far too advanced for me in here, but can anyone recommend any video editing software. Seems like something that a lot of people here would be aware of, even if they don't use it themselves. I need to be able to overlay a lot of information and commentary through the video so these features being simple to use and versatile is important, otherwise it just needs to be user friendly enough that I'd be able to pick it up in about a week without needing previous experience. I'm used to /b/ so I have no idea how helpful you guys are here, the bars pretty low at the minute though

I want to sculpt. I want to learn to sculpt. But every time I bring this up I get a torrent of zBrush answers. That, or some 3DS Max sculpt plugins which eventually leads to 'discussion' which program is the best. This is a pretty simple problem. (In Rhino) How do I make a surface from a closed poly like in pic related? I can create the poly and extrude it go give it a surface on the sides, but the base/top is still not a surface.
