Halp, /3/. It's my first time using Vray for Max 2013, and I can't figure out how to get rid of these hard lines. As you can see, I made a simple bowl model, and while the model itself isn't great, the shading seems like someone used paint to shade it. Also, there's so much noise in the image, and I'm not sure what to do about that. I tried changing the noise threshold to 0, which did nothing. Can someone help me out?

I have a small request. Well I am not sure if I can make requests here but if anybody experienced in rigging that can do this Chie model for Source. Just arms head, neck, head, and torso would suffice and if you could shrink it by half. Thanks in advance. https://mega.co.nz/#!iUVxiYBL!ZHH_YFnKxoWe5n_e3s_L6A6d-u8GRNsvrO22gbPo9jw

When you're sculpting a character in Zbrush do you sculpt on the head and body at the same time or do you just work on either the head or body and do the other later? I have trouble constantly alternating between the two while increasing subdivision levels and I think it's having an effect on my work. I'll be working on the head and want to remesh and it'll remesh the whole body, taking up a lot of time and in some cases losing detail. Does anyone just sculpt the head and add it to the body when both assets are done? Anyone ever had issues with this?

How hard is it to get a paying job in this industry compared to other industries? It seems near impossible to me, and they only people I see making money are teachers and people that somehow make guns for a very meager living.

Hello there, /3/. I am almost completely new to rigging, the exception being that I once created a bone. That's about it. How do I rig this shit?

Should I go to art or architecture university? I want to make a living of 3D, but I dunno how. I read somewhere that if you want to work outside your country you have to have a degree in 3D. Well I can't do that since in my country, turning on a PC is considered high-tech. Pic not related.

Does anyone that has used Artlantis know whats causing this problem? It was exported from ArchiCAD as an artlantis 5.0 file and after working on it for awhile the preview area just turns into this icon and the work area is unclickable. I know this program isn't used here at all, but I figured I'd try at least. Excuse the shitty building, it's for testing purposes only.

Any of you Blender users have experience with the Lynda tutorial videos? Are they missing anything major? Is there a better tutorial set I should be using? On the other hand, if I use Maya, would I find a LOT more tutorials?

Hi /3/. In Blender, I have two objects that I want to merge. I'm talking about actually merging together the geometry, not just pressing Ctrl-J to join them. I know a few tricks but it is always painfully slow and difficult, so I thought I'd look for a better way. The only tricks I know that work while manually moving vertices around: - Snap to vertex/edge/face using Ctrl key while moving - Shift-V to slide a vertex along an edge (although the snapping mentioned above doesn't work in this mode for some reason but it would be awesome if it did) - Ctrl-Alt-Space to create a "custom" axis that is aligned to the selected face That's about it. Other ways to speed up this process?

post old pictures of unfinished projects and we tell eachother whether or not the project is worth picking back up. This was from an open animal crossing project I started probably near the end of 2011 that would have a structure similar to flare allowing for new content and mods to be easily added. I stopped because of my lack of python knowledge, or lack of someone who knew how to script, and I got burned out working with a newbie modeler sending me tons of models that just had bad topology and too many poly's for what they were. I eventually told him to take a break and practice some more and that's where I took a long break as well

Hi /3/ I just started using blender a while ago and have a few questions. Is there any way to put edge loops as shown in the picture other than manually adding the edge loops? Also, I use the knife tool for complex shapes such as animal fur rug and clean up the ngons by deleting the ngon face and auto filling it. This ends up in the model having complete garbage topology. Is there anyway to make the model's topology clean after using the knife tool?

So, /3/, I have this "model" of Diana's Crescent Sword, from League of Legends, but I want t oadd depth to it, and stuff. How can I do it?

Is it okay for geometry to intersect like this? Not to mention the fact that one object has way more faces than the other. I don't really have a limit on the amount of polygons I can add to the whole thing (this is just for practice). I want to know if there is any sort of rule of thumb/common practice I'm missing here.
