So I've been using DDO for a few weeks now my free trail is about to run out am I am considering purchasing it. I like the program (I mean it is the lazy way to texture) but I want to ask /3/ if anyone actually uses it when creating their work or should I man up learn better texturing without dropping $200+ just to learn? The wooden part is the first model I've made from scratch. What do you think? No normal map or anything yet (it wouldn't show up in NIFskope anyway). I'm thinking about bringing the neck out a bit to make it look less constricting. I'm also not sure whether it would look better if the face was completely covered with carvings or if it's better like this, real simple.

I want to build "sets" for backgrounds for a cartoon I'm making. I'm drawing the characters in 2D but I'd like to make the backgrounds in 3D. Something along the lines of animal-crossing quality, it'd be kind of stylized. But the ability to make a "set" then just change the angles with the camera would be much better than drawing the backgrounds. So I ask, which program would you recommend for making sets?

Is Blender tough to learn for a Max veteran? This will sound weid, but I met a girl, and she is reallly cute, the bizarre thing is we hit it off because we are both into 3D. She just started using Blender, and we plan to make a short. Since we plan to show it at a festical, I can't use my pirated program. I need to learn Blender to some extent (can still model in max but convert to blender and iniate there). How simila are the interfaces and how long might it take me to get up to speed? I know this is weird to say on /3/, but a potential relationship hangs in the balance.
