Hi all first post, I am trying to get the detail from a high poly model to a lower poly model. The high poly has been decimated from the highest sub division in Zbrush. The lowest has been topo'd in max and then used as a base for the final sculpt. I am now trying to get the detail from the high poly onto the low poly model. I have tried two separate ways to get the Normal map, using Xnormal and using the projection method in max. When I attach the Normal into the Bump slot the seams of the model seem to go haywire. Can anyone give me assistance on this? Or offer any guidance in getting around/ working through it. This result is through using Max's projection. Please see attached image.

Hey guys i'm making my first model in Maya 2014, i had encountered a problem with my model when i opened it last and have no clue how to fix it. I have tried mirroring the sides as well as importing it to and from Mudbox which seemed to fix it temporarily but when i saved it and re-opened it it went straight back to this.

I went to /g/ and they did not help me. I am looking at getting a Leadtek PCIe Quadro K2000D 2GB video card. is this powerful enough to run solidworks 2013, and to also run keyshot to render, I know i can run up to 4 screens off it, I just want to run two 23" IPS screens at 60hz. I have an Intel CORE i7 4820K/3.70GHz/10MB CACHE 4 cores and 16gb DDR3 1866MHz ram. will this be enough of do I need to go higher in the quardo range. pic related, a render of sheet metal part.

Hello /3/, I need some help. How do I "activate" animations that came with a 3d model I downloaded to 3ds max? The animations are .c4d files, if that helps. I downloaded a model of the dragon Alduin from Skyrim and need to import it to a short film I'm making for school. The project is about every aspect of filmmaking except visual effects, so I'm not trying to make you do my homework. Sorry for asking such a painfully simple question, but I couldn't find answers anywhere else.

I cannot into rendering. The head on the rendered image looks completely different from the torso when it does not in the viewport. Same thing happens when I upload the model to sketchfab. What makes the different parts of the model look so different?

hey fellow pots, how could i possibly make the threads connecting the parachute to the character. the chute is ncloth and it's constrained to a hidden box connected to the character. i thought about just rendering out a payblast and using the viewport's rendering of the constraints as reference, and just paint the damn threads manually. it's not that many frames, any ideas? working in maya 2014

Im really eagar to get a job as 3D artist doing environments mostly but would like to know that i will atleast get a moderate amount of spare time to play sports and keep fit and socialize occasionally TL:DR : Are 3D jobs as bad as they say?

I've been working on animations for Arma 3, but what I have still doesn't feel right, and the BIStudio forums are exactly the best place for those questions.
