Hello dear /an/. I don't come here often (though I should), but right now I have a question. Several years down the line, I think I'd like to own a bird. I saw some videos of pet cockatoos and was immediately in love, but reading up on them, it seems that most species live for like, 50-70 years. That seems like a hell of a long time to be responsible for a creature, to me. Is there a species/kind of bird you can recommend that does not live as long as but is still cute and can be socialised into being affectionate?

So what are some relatively obscure animal rights issues? I'm talking about the opposite of whales being whaled by Japan, and puppy mills.

Hey /an/, wondering if any of you can help me with this. I have an adult cat who recently got two wounds on the base of her tail (I believe she was bit by one of the other cats). I'm trained in vet first aid/wound care, but I can't seem to be able to control this cat. She's aggressive as all hell, even more now that she's in pain. I'll only be able to take her to the vet on monday, and until then I NEED to clean the wound since my area is known to have loads of botfly. I'm applying liquid meds on the site, but she keeps messing with it and making it bleed. If I manage to hold her, I can isolate it. Do you guys think I should leave her be until Monday and hope for the best, or forcefully hold her down and care for the wound? Anyone have tips on this?

What would you guys recommend between Wellness Core and Blue Buffalo? It's gonna be for cats, a dog, and ferrets. Pic is one of my boys, Dragon.

Just noticed that my dogs two back paws are like this. The two middle toes are connected. What's up with this?

What are some dumb dog breeds? Im really boring and anti-social, so i want a dog that will be happy enough exercising, chilling with 1 human and playing with its toys. So breeds that require less mental stimulation.

Give me a good reason why you still aren't keeping one of these qt at home with you, instead of buying overrated dogs and cats

New Puppy- GENERAL

Hey /an/, I bought a puppy today. It's half dutch shep, 1/4 belgian malinois, 1/4 rottweiler. I got it at 6 weeks. He's been sleeping most of the day though, I'm assuming he's stressed out. Something peculiar about him is that when I am standing and he is sitting at my feet, and I talk to him- he doesn't look up at me and starts whining. Is that normal for a puppy or do you think he could have a deformity- the not looking up part? >inb4 too young General Puppy Thread too Pic related, mother's breed (dutch shepherd)

So, yeah. Sometimes silkworms can just cover everything in their silk. So, /an/, what would you do if this happened to your car?

2 questions. I need some serious aid right now. So I guess through sensitization I've become quite allergic to my hamsters and mice. I went to get an allergic test and confirmed for allergic. I have trouble breathing around them. I don't know if it's mostly urine or dander based. But I am assuming both. Is there a way or a substrate I can use to minimalize the smell and have it capture the dander a bit more? I'm also beggining to itch a lot at the shavings used. (aspen, and also the recycled newspaper that gets super dusty) There's no way around this is there? (Un)fortunately, they are all around 2 years old so I know they will pass soon (thus why I won't opt for getting rid of them) Because I did plan on indeed getting more after they pass. 2nd question, if anything, should I go for a bird instead? Or will I possibly be allergic to them as well? It's not the same kind of protein in the dander, right? Pic of one of the tests.

My kid brother (8) has been begging for a pet for a year now. He really wants a puppy but we agreed that when the family thought he was responsible enough, he could have his very own fish. He's always begging to bring home a betta cup anyway. For Christmas I purchased him a 3 gallon tank and a $25 giftcard to pick out small decor and a fish. I intend to buy him a small plant, probably a java fern. What do you guys think are the most important points of fish ownership that I should stress to him? What should he know? also, is there any reliable heater for a 3 gal? We live in a pretty warm place and my 10 gal (when I had it) ran about 72-74 degrees before I put in the heater. I'm worried about people who have the non-adjustable heaters that fry and boil their fish.

Hey /an/, this is a dog I'm planning to adopt soon. What breed is she? She's listed as being a Australian Shepherd/Hound but I'm not sure.

should you let your cat sleep in your bed when she has fleas? What are /an/ approved flea remedies or medications? I don't wanna just get a random chemical and put it on her

Pets according to /an/: >breeders are 90% shit cunts >shelters are 90% ill-socialized pits, which you'll have to provide five references, a hair sample and a blood test to take home >most pure bred dogs have health issues >no responsible breeders produce mutts Tell me something guys: why the fuck is it so difficult to get a regular-ass dog in America today? Jesus. Anyway, recently I've been thinking about taking in a pet dog. I had one as a kid (or rather, my Dad did), but I think I'll probably need a dog refresher course at this point --so if anyone could point me towards a good resource for learning about kosher training and nutrition, that would be great. >inb4 you have to research the breed I will when I start thinking about breeds. Right now I'm just taking a more general look at the proposition, and trying to learn the ropes before I commit to anything. Also, I'm relatively active (runner), and I have a fenced yard.

tl;dr: How do I into scaring this cat away?

Hello /an/imals, /fit/izen here. Greentext, it reads easier. >fat ginger cat (probably pregnant) is in my parent's backyard >try to scare it away, the cat does not give a single fuck >spray water on it, doesn't budge >grab it and put it down on the stoop, it comes right back >the cat shits in the garden and meows constantly >turns out my parents sometimes give leftover to the cat >5 minutes later, they complain and whine that there is a freaking cat in our backyard >It's someone else's cat probably (no colar though), it maybe even has disseases I could call petcontroll, but I don't want to hurt my parents feelings that much. It's always option B. pic related: the ginger cat
