I come seeking advice of any wildlife conversationalists, biologists, breeders, inspectors, or herpetologists.
What would be the steps required in order to get a breeders permit for an endangered species?
Do such a thing exist? Can anyone go about an apply for them?
Are there programs for this the government would sponsor?
Or is this all wishful thinking?
I would love to breed Butlers Garter snakes as part of a breed and release program as they've almost been completely eradicated in my area and are an endangered species.
I've done so successfully (but illegally) two springs in a row.
Obviously the numbers would have to be properly controlled, and I understand that, but I also don't want to see them completely disappear from my city.
Weird cat behavior and answers

So, my cat comes in. She's a very loving type, slow blinks, purrs and trills a lot, REALLY likes human company. She can be a bit bitey sometimes, but usually it's telegraphed by a margin, and she's been actually trying to not bite hard. But when she came in just now, and I brought my hand down to pet her/have her pet me, she did so normally, bit me (albeit softly), and acted normally aside from that.
What is the meaning of this shit? How do I let her know this isn't acceptable, or do I just go with it if it's a playbite or something?
Pic unrelated, aside from it being a cat.

Hello /an/, I never usually post here but I've exhausted my resources and live communication might help a lot.
I want to get a ferret, really bad. I know they require lots of play time and that's what I'm looking forward to the most. I've read up on care and treatment etc. but I've still got 2 issues: First, I want to buy a baby so I can bond with it it's whole life, but it seems nearly impossible for me to get one from a shelter because most of them in my area require a home visit and are too far away (something I can't work around seeing as I am nocturnal aside from a few hours early morning and late afternoon) so I would pretty much be forced to get one from PetCo which I'd HATE to do. Second is that for now I only want one, I plan on giving it attention whenever I am home and let it out of it's cage to roam freely when I'm home as well, would that be fine to just have one ferret until I can get another?
If I get one from PetCo will it become depressed from separation of the other ferrets it was with? Should I even get one from PetCo at all? I have little to no other options, but am still searching. Thanks for any input!! Also if anyone knows any ferret rescues in the Minneapolis area that'd be great
