The people I live with got two rabbits a month ago. The other week one of them died, and they had been keeping the other one in a cardboard box in the garage ever since. That's no life, so I've moved it to the hutch outside so it can look around at something and have a few more feet of hopping room, and I've been trying to bring it inside every day to get her accustomed to being with people (the family never gave her the time of day, just kept her in a box with some food and water). I generally like animals, but I just am not liking this bunny. It's brainless, scared of everything, hops around constantly looking over its shoulder and being scared of anything that moves too fast. It freaks out when I go to get her from the hutch and tries to hide, or thumps its foot. I bring her inside, she hops around a bit, bobs her head a lot, and doesn't seem to recognize me except as a salt block to be licked. They had a cat who I did similar with it (she had a problem of pissing around the house because she was scared of the other cats, so the family put her in a cage. I kept taking her out of the cage every day for a few hours, to get her to feel safe around me and around the house, and now she's completely rehabed and doesn't need to be in the cage anymore), and now she and I are best friends. But this rabbit seems dumb and without personality. I was sitting with her today, and she got a hold of my headphone wire with her evil little mouth, and in less than a second had destroyed it. She's also nipped me twice. I'm very gentle and calm with her, and take care to move slowly--the nips came out of the blue as she was sitting next to me. I'm just not liking her at all. So do rabbits have a personality, or are they just these brainless little furbags who are scared of everything all the time?
