Hi /an/ Probably Won't remember me but I am the guy who had the assignement to do on an exotic animal. I chose a Spectacled bear. Does anyone have any pictures of one I could use? Pro saidpictures have to be our own, and im not paying costs to travel and zoo enttry to watch an empty enclosure all day. If not, no worries - I can draw it, but I would prefer a picture. Thanks

This is going to sound crazy, but here goes nothing. . . I want to import and breed a colony of the jumping spider Bagheera kiplingil. For those who don't know, B. kiplingi is the only known herbivorous spider. It feeds off of the so-called Beltian bodies on 5 or so species of acacia called Bullhorn Acacias. I have managed to find some bullhorn acacia seedlings in the U.S. so feeding the spiders would not be a problem. Apart from eating plants, B. kiplingi has another interesting trait: it is only of about only 25 species of spiders known to be social. Now, why do I want to do this? Well, I am extremely interested in spider silk. There has been some research into extracting silk from spiders (and even a cape made from their silk) but in general, the problem is that spiders cannot be housed together because they are aggressive and will attack and even eat each other. Obviously, with a vegetarian spider that also lives communally, this would not be a problem. Now, my question for you guys is: how do I do this? I live in Texas, and the spiders are live in Mexico and Costa Rica. I've been in talks with people there to collect them (they're familiar with the trees they inhabit) but the question is how do I ship the spiders and keep them alive, and how do I get them into the U.S. legally? Is it worth it to do it legally, or are the enforcement of these sorts of laws not very common? The good news is that these spiders would not likely be invasive because they feed on such a specific food source. Pic related, it's one of the spiders.

About 4-5 years ago I was bitten by something in my sleep. It left two marks on my outside right calf, each puncture about 2mm apart. The area around the bite swelled up to about a 7cm diameter at its worst, and stayed inflamed for 3-4 months (gradually shrinking during that time period). At one point the area darkened a bit in color and looked like a mild bruise. No fevers, no headaches, no other side effects; it was all local. To this day I have no clue what bit me. I live in the California central valley, in the suburbs. Does anyone care to figure out what bit me? (Pic not related, but have some nice fungus)

Hi /an/. I've come for some help today. I used to live with my mother and she had two dogs. We live next door to my nan and she has two also. We have a male jack russel and a male jack russel cross staffordshire bullterrier. My nan has a female staff and another male jack russel cross staffordshire bullterrier. Our gardens are joined so the dogs come and go from both houses. Well, my mum used to live here but moved out. I live here and she left our two dogs to me. If you haven't guessed, the two jack russel cross staffordshire bullterriers are brothers and the staffordshire my nan has and the jack russel I have are the parents. They all get along rather well, the dad jack russel is quite territorial and thinks he is the dog incharge of the house. One of his offspring, named Titch so you dont get confused, thinks just like his dad and likes to think he is incharge. His brother, Chub (named because he's built more like a staffordshire and thus looks fatter but he isn't fat I promise) is like a baby because my mother treated all the dogs like little kids and they all now have that mentality hard wired into them. The mother staffordshire bullterrier doesn't come round to our house much and is very friendly so no problem with her. Anyway, the point of this thread is the dogs, the dad and his two offspring sons, are very bad when it comes to guests coming around the house. Whenever the door knocks they go CRAZY into a barking frenzy because they are so excited to see who is at the door. Chub gets too excited and being more of a staffordshire his barks are quite loud and intimidating. He's also pretty big and heavy and he jumps up at people who come into the house and people have gone away with big big bruises from him. He's also kind of intimidated by girls for some reason, when a girl comes into the house he wont leave them alone, as soon as they sit down he jumps on their lap and wants them to make a massive fuss over him. To be continued in next post...

My new roommate's dog is a very begging dog. He whimpers for food 5 minutes after being fed. Which he doesn't get. My question is, what would happen if we kept feeding him?

Hi /an/, do we have any fish experts here? It's urgent, so i have a tank with 1 dwarf gourami, 6 guppies, 2 orange fish (idk name) 2 small orange fish, and a black and white one (dont know name) i dont know the name of them because i was given them by a friend who moved, but basically, yesterday the 2 orange fish, were acting sort of agressive and chasing the other fish sometimes, and they bit one of the guppies tails, so i seperated them. Then 2 of my guppies were staying above the filter, i kept moving them but they just kept going back up there and i woke up this morning and those 2 guppies are dead at the bottom of the tank. The dwarf gourami, the other guppies, and the other 4 fish in the main tank seem fine. What happened and should i put the orange ones back in with them or...???? also picture is of the black and white one which idk the name of and the orange one that was being agressive that are now seperated. Also could somebody tell me the name of them?

Hey, /an/ I need some advice Search engines aren't doing it for me so i'm here >About to clean hamster cage >See that hamster has a wet tail and is really quiet and making strange noises >It's really weak and bothered if there's any loud noises >Googled "is my hamster sick?" >Saw results about wet-tail disease, and my hamster's tail is wet >Fucking worried >The cage was also wet everywhere and the water bottle recently broke because he nibbled on the plastic end >Not sure whether hamster has just come down with a cold and is just wet because of the water bottle, which he sleeps under sometimes or >that he may have wet-tail disease If you guys ask more questions about this, I'll answer Please let me know what I should do >Pic related, it's a shitty picture of my hamster, I couldn't get a good picture, and I didn't want to wake him up, he seems really ill
