I have a great interest in genetics and would like to start a breeding project. This is pretty much purely out of scientific interest, so I'm firmly set against larger animals or anything that requires consistent love and care that I wouldn't be able to provide if I just want to study genetics.
Are there any smaller critters that fit what I'm looking for? Short lifespans, variety in morph/color, doable husbandry, doesn't require handling/attention, just enclosure maintenance and so on. I'm thinking insects, amphibians, fish.. but I have no idea on what species to look into. If you guys have any other suggestions, I'm game.
Thanks in advance.
