Why do people drop cats (and other pets) off on the road when there are good animal shelters nearby? I live just outside of town and some ass dropped some kittens (I've seen three, there may be more) off on our road yesterday. I tried to catch them by hand, just made them scatter and take off across the field. Feels bad man. I set out a live trap overnight and got one of them, taking it to the humane society in about an hour. (If I kept every cat that wandered through, I'd have 100 cats.) I don't have high hopes for the others, the coyotes were singing pretty loud last night. If they do make it, they'll just contribute to the feral cat problem. I understand that sometimes people end up with animals that they can't care for. It happens, I'm not going to yell and growl about it. But I don't understand why they had to go and drop these kittens off where they'll certainly die horribly--there is a shelter not ten minutes from here that is well-funded and comfortable. It's not no-kill but they don't have a huge euthanasia rate, their cats have a fighting chance. They weren't even dropped off close to a farm where the person might have been thinking that they could be barn cats. I found them about a mile away from anyone's house/barn. They don't belong to the neighbors either, I called everyone, nobody's had kittens lately. They must have been afraid of being seen. I feel like shit that I didn't get the others. Going to set up the live trap again tonight and hope. At least I got the one.

So I'm trying to figure out if my discus have paired up.. I started with four but my largest bullied the smaller two to death, (I know now I should of started with a larger tank and more discus, received some bad info from the pet store.. think he was just trying to get rid of the last of their discus) The largest never took notice of the second largest, sometimes it would chase the other away from food but barely ever. As soon as the second Discus died, everything changed. The largest and other constantly swim together, sometimes they share food, (one takes a chunk From a block of frozen bloodworms and spits it out near the other to share (I think)), the largest does a lot of weird shaking and shivering and just today I notice them pecking at the pebbles at the bottom of the tank(pebbles the size of rocks you'd skim across a lake or something). Does any of this sound like pairing behavior? And are pebbles like that even suitable for spawning on?

Hey /an/. It's obvious that well-marketed dry cat food brands like Whiskas and Friskies are very low-quality. But how about their canned variants? I've looked at their ingredients and all I see is supposedly good stuff like fish and chicken plus some gelling agents (probably gelatin or carageenan or some other inert shit)
