Question, why are cats so fun and social as kittens and so boring and anti-social as adults? Why aren't they more like dogs? They don't even greet you when you come home.

Not sure if this is the right thread or, but recently my cat has gotten sick. He was throwing up acting weird three days ago, then he went outside and didnt come back for two days, he's back now but refusing to eat. He drinks a little though He's still throwing up, he did last night before I went to bed. He's also lazy as crap and thin as hell. I also found a lump on his right leg a few weeks ago, but haven't taken him to the vet cus I thought it was probably some swelling from a fight or something... and the fact that the vet is expensive.. Please help!

/an/ I need help, one of my retarded neighbors got a talking parrot today, the animal is in a cage and just singing songs, being loud and whistling ... But I can't stop feeling bad about it, is it a sort of "natural" thing like dogs and cats? Would I be doing any harm to the parrot by releasing it? I've been thinking about talking to my neighbor about it but I'm not sure if what I'm doing is the best thing to do.

I brought my spider plant out for some sun and when I went to take it back in it'd been in the shade for maybe 2 hours @ about 40degrees. It looks droopy and sad as shit now, the leaves were standing straight up... should it bounce back? And if anyone wants, houseplant general thread I guess.

Going through some old photos and came across this snap of a rather impressive looking birdie from the wildlife park. Not sure what it is- vaguely recall "Himalayan Snowcock" being mentioned on the enclosure's info board but this looks nothing like one of those, at least as far as Google Images is able to inform me. Can anyone with more ornithological expertise that me (ie any at all) advise as to what this bird is? TL;DR - What bird is this? Ta.

New Stray Kitten

So while vacationing in Mexico, I found a stray kitten. She's acting like a normal kitten does (she looks between 2-3 months old) and seems healthy besides some sneezing. (I'm taking her to a veterinarian soon for Vx and possible antibiotics) I was wondering if her contracting rabies from other animals is a major concern since we are in Mexico. Thanks! Pic related, it's the kitten.

"Your Cat Hates You" Study

http://www.9news.com/news/article/369104/188/Study-Your-cat-hates-you What do you cat-owners think of this study? I think it's bullshit. My cat is really attached to me. Whenever she sees a stranger, she will become really curious and try to sniff the stranger out. After a few minutes, however, she would usually stay by my side again and avoid the stranger as much as possible until she knows them better. I think in this study, they are mistaking the cat's initial curiosity for the stranger as disloyalty to its owner. I think this study is highly flawed. What do you guys think?

Am I the only person who doesn't give a shit if animals go extinct? An animal's life is never worth the life of a person. If polar bears all die, who actually cares? There's plenty of more genetically successful bears out there that aren't extinct. If all seals die, once again who fucking cares? If something like a species of foot long cockroaches was endangered nobody would give a shit. And you know if you're deadly honest with yourself, you know that it doesn't matter to you either. How many have you have even seen a tiger, polar bear, whale or whatever in the wild anyway? Zoos don't count. Furthermore, 99% of species that have ever existed are extinct. Humanity's apparent damage pails in comparison to what mother nature does to itself every day. In fact I hope that whales especially all die just so people shut the fuck up about them. And tigers too.

> found young cat in a street > cat is friendly, looks kinda skinny. Cat is happy when petted. > me & wife took it, walked some streets, checked if the cat was really interested in us > wife goes alone to the supermarket to get cat stuff while I watch the cat in our home > cat slept with us in our bed. kinda funny, like the kid we never had > next day we took it to the vet. Cat is a healthy 3 month female > I keep thinking about taking a pic of the cat and posting it around the place where we found it, but I don't do anything > two days have passed, we have already bonded with the cat and we picture our future together as a family > walk again by the street were we found the cat and found some lost cat signs > signs make a perfect description of the cat, it even includes the address: it was exactly where we found it > cat must have just escaped for a second and unknowingly we stole a cat > wife says it was their fault for letting cat escape, an error she will never make > I feel the right thing to do is to call them (sign says "please call us at any hour", so they are desperate) > wife is mortified because she doesn't want to give up the cat > I tell her it's not difficult to get another free cat > I acknowledge that the cat came out of nowhere into our lives just when we needed it more, but I feel guilty about the previous owners and I really want to call them and tell them the cat is ok > I feel now it's more difficult for me to bond with the cat

So in 2 days im going to a breeder to pick out a sub-woofer to take home. Anything I should know that is not obvious about labs? (hip dysplasia is obvious) The last one we owned was a fucking riot. I think he was mildly retarded but i think thats just labradors in general.
