The Fabric Stash Challenge

15 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: fabric stash .jpg]
All right /cgl/, I have for you a challenge. I'm sure most if not all of us have a fabric stash full of leftovers, fabric bought for cosplays or coords that fell through, impulse buys, and inherited leftovers. The stash sits in your garage or in your closet, taking up space and staring at you resentfully because you're just not using it. YOUR CHALLENGE is to take that stash and MAKE SOMETHING with it. It can be a whole cosplay, a skirt, a pillow, a plush, anything you damn well please. You just have to use your existing fabric stash to do it. And of course, you've gotta post pictures when you're done. EASY MODO: Use some leftover fabric, but also use new fabric bought for the purpose NORMAL MODE: Use mostly leftover fabric, with just a little bit of new stuff HARD MODE: Use only leftover fabric, but you can buy new notions, thread, etc. NIGHTMARE MODE: Use all leftover fabric, notions, and thread. Absolutely no new materials involved You have two weeks. I'll be monitoring this thread, and when it dies I'll start another. Get those juices flowing and USE THAT STASH!

I was thinking of selling amigurumi at cons and on Etsy so I did some Googling. I landed on Hooked on Chibis and... are their prices considered reasonable? They seem high to me, but if I can charge what they do I could really see an AA table raking in serious money. Also I think my stuff looks better. Less stuffing showing to say the least. http://www.etsy.com/shop/hookedonchibis Pic related. This weeping angel is, according to them, 3.5inches and $30

I just stumbled upon this website called devilinspired. I'm relatively new to the whole lolita scene, so I don't know too much about what place to avoid. They have pretty low prices considering the look of some of their items but are they just replicas? Has anyone bought from them? If so, how was the quality? http://www.devilinspired.co.uk/lolita-clothing/523-sweet-bunny-applique-rococo-lolita-skirt.html Random skirt link for reference. Pic very related.

Just a question for much more seasoned Lolitas: I've been in online contact with my local lolita comm for quite some time but have never gone to a meetup or even left my own house wearing the style before but I've finally worked up the courage to join the comm for an event. I'm just curious as to what some "Do's and Don't's" are for a new member of a comm? Also any horror or good stories you have to share of your own first time to a meetup or experience with a new member of a comm would be lovely.

Legend of Mana

This may be a bit hard to find but I've never seen Legend of Mana cosplay anywhere. Legend of Mana thread? If that doesn't work a general World of Mana thread would be neat too.

Question. Is a wig still considered "unstyled" and a "bad wig" if the character in question has really disgusting looking hair?

Kuroko No Basuke cosplay thread. So, I've been trying to look around lately for any well made but fairly cheap Kuroko cosplays. I have a convention coming up in a few months and I don't have the time to sit down and make it. Anybody have any advice? Also this thread can just be used to post your favourite KnB cosplays.

Wizard World Toronto RIP?

Wizard World Toronto 2013's date is "to be determined". Is there any evidence to suggest that their promises of a 2013 event are less empty than Dot Con's? http://www.wizardworld.com/home-toronto.html

There is an upcoming cosplay ball organized in my country, but i have barely any ideas on what to do. I wanted to cosplay with a friend as well, so two characters with ballgowns from the same series would be more welcome. Can you help me out seagulls? Also, general ballgown thread.

I work at Sam's Club, wireless department, and they deny every time off request I make. This is detrimental for my con life. Ideally I'd like a job that gives weekends off, or at least Saturdays. What jobs would you recommend for this? Also, what do you do for work, /cgl/?

I am going to be making a Hanekawa cosplay, but I am having trouble picking a fabric to use for the skirt and top. I went to Joannes and they didn't have anything I liked and I was wondering if people had reccommendations for what type of fabric to use for a school uniform and stores with which to buy said fabric online. Thanks!

Hey gais So my gf and i are looking to do a Army of 2 Spinoff, i already have my mask made, but i need to find or make one smaller for her little head. Wanted to know if yall had any resources for masks that are relatively featureless, built or molded around a smaller face. Or a good how to link on making your own mask, papercraft -> laminate. Ive already checked around the basic online searches, finding nothing but airsoft masks or Army of 2 masks that i know are too big for her head. Pic semi related, its my mask right after i finished it.
