too old for gal

Not the best place to ask this, but you can probably tell that I have no idea where to start from the question....
When I was a teen I wanted to be GAL. Trouble is, that was in the late 90's-early 00's, during Gal's ganguro highpoint, and in the USA it was mostly unheard of. I still have yearnings to be Gal, but now I've got two problems:
- I'm almost 30, waaaaay too old to be a gal (shameful)
- The styles I think of as 'gal' went out of style 10-15 years ago, lol
What's people's opinion on this? Am I way too old to be sitting on street curbs doing my ganguro makeup like some weirdo living in the past? Should I take advantage of the newly re-popularized ganguro styles and go for it despite my age? Is there some more....grownup version of ganguro that's appropriate for an adult, a "graduated" Gal?
Also feel free to make this a general Gyaru thread, since I don't see an active one.

It's been a while since the last one, so here we go. Post your questions, rant about creepers, talk about upcoming photoshoots, discuss the merits of having your own business card, network with cosplayers/photographers in your area, etc.

So, first time poster here (part-time /k/ommando usually), and I figured you chaps might be able to lend assistance.
I'm trying to finish a Red Hood (from Batman) costume for Denver ComicCon that I've been slowly piecing together over time. So far, I've compiled the following components:
-Leather motorcycle jacket w/ red accents
-Black combat boots
-Brown 'tactical' pants
-Tactical belt w/ assorted holsters/pouches/sheathes
-Shooting gloves w/ metal accents
The only thing I don't have is a mask. I considered buying an Army of Two style ballistic mask and painting it, but that could be pricey. So, my question to you is: what else can I do to make a convincing Red Hood mask? How would you do it?
