Here's a recipe I call Autumn Apple Cake. >Ingredients: 5-7 apples 1 (9 ounce) package yellow cake mix 2 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1 stick real butter >Directions: Preheat oven to 350°F. Fill a 9x12 pan half full with apples which you've peeled, cored and sliced thin. Peeling is optional but I generally do it as a rule of thumb. Sprinkle the apples with dry cake mix. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over the cake mix. Melt butter and drizzle over. Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown Can be served with ice cream, if desired. You can also use other fruits for this cake; haven't tried it with anything except apples but it seems pretty versatile as of yet. Hope you enjoy.

Okay, so I'm trying to survive off £10 a week for food. I usually only eat one or two meals a day, so there's no real need for breakfast items. I have some spices, but no big bags of rice or anything. Here's my shopping list for this week: 2kg onions £1.08 2kg chicken drumsticks and thighs £3.02 4pts skimmed milk £1 15eggs £1.25 1kg rice £0.40 ketchup £0.40 1kg frozen peas £0.98 1kg sweetcorn £0.99 700gr satsumas £0.75 total: £9.83 So far I've made myself two portions of omurice, using two chicken thighs, 1 cup of uncooked rice, 1 onion, 4 eggs and some of the corn/peas. What else can I make with this stuff?

I want to prepare a beef brisket in the oven. As a eurofag I have never done this and also never tasted one but it sounds like it would be delicious. I read a few recipes on the webs and they are all kinda different in cooking temperatures, adding liquids and spice mixtures. So I thought about putting a rub on the meat overnight and then cook it at 120 °C (250 Fahrenheit) until the meat reaches around 80 °C (180 °F). Would that work? Any suggestions for the rub? Most recipes seem to suggest store-bought stuff that I simply will not be able to obtain.

I tried this brand of frozen mash today and it was surprisingly good if a tad dry. The ingredients are literally just potatoes, butter, milk, salt and pepper. I'm guessing the fat content allows it to freeze well. I'm never going to make my own mash from scratch again. What other convenient yet high quality products do you recommend, /ck/?
