What's happening, /ck/? I'm in the market for a good bartending set, but all searching Google or Amazon gets me is an innumerable list of near identical sets, that's honestly a little overwhelming. So tell me what you prefer. What do you use at home, and what do you recommend?

Hey /ck/, I'm trying to eat on a budget more this year, and am planning on making white rice & pinto bean burritos in bulk and freezing them so I can just heat up easy meals on the go for super cheap. I want some good hot sauce to go with these burritos, but don't know many over-the-counter brands besides Tabasco & Cholula, which won't work for this. I plan on making my own hot sauces in the future, but won't be getting a food processor for another month or so. So what are some good off-the-shelf hot suaces to go on rice & bean burritos? Any other tips for stuff that I can add to the burritos would be appreciated too.

Help me /ck you're my only hope. This was the last loaf of bread I've managed to make that grew to a respectable size (In september). Ever since then all my sourdough cultures refuse to rise and the bread comes out pancake-like. It's still reasonably tasty but depressingly saucer shaped. I've tried adding sugar (Honey actually) warming the dough with water baths, more kneading,,, nothing works. It still grows but about half as much as I need it to. Is my culture exhausted? Do I need to start over with a brand new one? What do?

Beans dry v wet weight

I'm going to make some chili with pinto beans and was wondering once I soak them for cooking, what's the difference in the dry v wet weights, also I know that canned beans have that goop in it that I always strain off. Is there some conversion factor for dry to wet weights for pinto beans and does the conversion factor vary with the type of dry beans?

Is there literally anything interesting about carrots? I mean, sure you can steam them or throw them into your fried rice to pretend you eat vegetables, but is there any interesting dish you can make with carrots?

Last year my family did something out of the norm and deep fried a turkey ( of course we still had the backup traditional oven turkey as well). While we all agreed that the deep fried turkey was the tastier of the two, the really great part was finding other things to experimentally deep fry. Last year we did bananas, snickers, ham, oreos, string cheese and i think pickles. Any good recommendations before we do it again this year?

Okay I've been making this sauce for my burgers for the last 29 years of my life, I call it Quinky Sauce. It's just 3 parts ketchup, 2 parts Sayosauce, and 2 parts Mustard. Anyways today we had burgers, and my daughter wouldn't eat my Quinky Sauce so I punished her by making her go to her room for a time out. My wife get's all pissed at me for doing this, If my daughter doesn't want to eat the food we make in this house, why should I be the bad guy for punishing her? I'm gonna continue making Burgers the way people in this family eats burgers, but I think maybe I could mild down my recipe a bit, I was wondering if you guy's had any recipe's or variation on Quinky Sauce that would be suitable for a child?
