Hey ro/ck/stars, Merry Christmas! Here is the final Advent Calendar thread of the year. :) Almost all of the books in this year's Calendar are available in both PDF and ePUB. If possible, I really recommend that you download the ePUB version as the PDF has been converted from the original ePUB and may be formatted irregularly as a result. You can download a free ePUB reader from Adobe or install a plug-in for your browser to view the files. Today's book are requests I was able to fill: >I'm Just Here For the Food by Alton Brown EPUB: n/a PDF: http://www.mediafire.com/?3oim4ao9h70x3n8 >Martha Stewart's Cookies by Martha Stewart EPUB: n/a PDF: http://www.mediafire.com/?pgkajcyn6ncef5w >New England Soup Factory Cookbook by Marjorie Druker and Clara Silverstein EPUB: n/a PDF: http://www.mediafire.com/?i6nhmpc9hkp6kgs >Ratio: The Simple Codes Behind the Craft of Everyday Cooking by Michael Ruhlman EPUB: http://www.mediafire.com/?g1l8b78ljmk3rxf PDF: http://www.mediafire.com/?hp7qu5zyuq6oyo1 >Top Pot Hand-Forged Donuts by Mark and Michael Klebeck EPUB: http://www.mediafire.com/?n823pm5k5b9z6gy PDF: http://www.mediafire.com/?z8p9mdt4sdjdjpd >2012 issues of Food Network magazine EPUB: n/a PDF: http://filepost.com/files/b1d12cfm/Food_Network_mag_2012.rar/ >2012 issues of Saveur magazine EPUB: n/a PDF: http://filepost.com/files/1b5mb4ed/Saveur_mag_2012.rar/

Finding out if Cookware has Teflon

2 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: baking-sheetsENTERT1205-de.jpg]
I got a cookie sheets for Christmas by Wilton, and I am concerned it may have teflon in it. It just simply says "non-stick" it doesnt say anything about teflon. It doesnt mention if they used another chimerical or anodized either. Are manufacturers required to label if the product contains teflon? Thanks It just says "non-stick" it doesnt say anything about teflon in there. Are manufacturers required to clearly label the product contains teflon?

HEY SOUR DOUGH Just wanted to come back and say, posted a thread a couple of days ago about my sour dough attempts. Wise anon weighed in with some wise advise. I made up 95% starter, 65% water, 3.5% salt as discussed looked like this. Kind of wetter than I usually work with but eh, did ok. Raised up over about 8 hours just fine compared to the entire day like my last batch. Starter seems healthier though with twice daily feeding.

I think it is the general consensus that chili with beans is unfit for a hot dog. Meat chili reigns supreme in this aspect. Why is it then that when some cook chili as a meal that they use beans? What is the benefit, whats the point? Because it is more filling? Just use more meat and chili peppers, problem solved. If you want beans then make a bean dish. If you want beans that taste like chili then at least call them chili-beans, quit trying to pass it off as chili. I'm not even saying chili beans are bad, I like em sometimes. But quit calling it chili please. Chili beans is a perfectly acceptable name for a perfectly acceptable dish.

I have a query, my fellow ro/ck/stars. I'm about to make some lobster stock with the leftover shells and bits from the lobsters we had for Christmas dinner. Now, pertaining to my question, when I make chicken or turkey stock, I usually do it in my slow cooker, and it turns out beautifully. So, can or SHOULD I make the lobster stock in the slow cooker as well, or would it be better to make it the "faster" way, in a stock pot?

My doctor says I need to start eating vegetables and improve my diet. Do french fries and onion rings count? I did some googling and I find out onions and potatoes are vegetables. How healthy are they?
