How the hell am I supposed to know when the chorizo is done cooking? It doesn't really change its texture too much while cooking and there's no indication in the color.

So I noticed my wal mart has frozen lobster tails. Two in a pack for $20. Anyone ever tried lobster from wal mart? Is it worth a shit? Was thinking I could make cheap lobster for me and my girl on Valentines instead of going out. They looked very much like the ones pictured here, and were visible through the packaging.

how long does narutomaki stay good? do you usually just defrost the whole thing in the fridge and use it as needed or what? it's a big block [approximately 10 cm length] and i wont use that much in a single dish...

So, I've made quinoa twice now and each time it comes out tasting well... like dirt. Am I doing something wrong or is this how it normally tastes? Alternatively, what can I do to cover the dirt taste?

Normally I identify as a brewman, but tonight i've had a little jack, a little brandy and a lot of tequilla, so /co/ck when you're out with you're mates and taste flies out the window, what are you prone to drinking?

so guys, i need some help. see, i just started a workout with a personal trainer and he told me something that I already knew, simply that i need to eat about 3000 calories a day, but the catch is they need to be spaced every few hours apart with about 4-6 meals a day. for me this is really hard since i work retail full time and go to school full time. do you guys have any suggestions on relatively healthy foods that i can make and take to work with me? i have a microwave at work if that makes a difference pic related, what im trying to stay away from tl;dr i need healthy foods i can eat at work that are calorie packed

I've been to a couple of asiatic restaurants lately and I just love the thin beef and chicken they serve on white rice. They are just so perfectly moist and tender and melt in your mouth with great taste and everything. Is it just marinated beef/chicken or do they cook it in a special way?

Southern cuisine is really modular. I'm sure other cuisines are too, but here's the one I'm familiar with. Some of these are classic combinations you don't want to fuck with like chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy or a steak and baked potato, but no matter what choices you make, it's going to be a good meal. Sorry in advance if I left something out. Choose a meat >grilled, barbecue or roast chicken >pulled pork >ribs >pork necks and gravy >fried porkchops >fried chicken >fried or blackened catfish >chicken fried steak >meatloaf >grilled or pan-seared steak >various combinations of sausage, gulf seafood, freshwater fish, crawdads, etc. Pick two of the following: >macaroni salad >potato salad >yeast rolls >cornbread >biscuits >red beans and rice >barbecue beans >baked or boiled potatoes >hush puppies >fried okra >fried green tomatoes >corn on the cob >green beans >macaroni and cheese >steamed carrots >black eyed peas >sliced cucumber and tomatoes >mashed potatoes and gravy >coleslaw >salad >greens

Let us discuss the goat and all the great things that come from it, mainly the cheese that can be produced from their milk. I love goat cheese.

Is apple cider vinegar any good with salad? Is there anyway you can make it good? Right now I use: - 1 cup Red Wine Vinegar - ~7/8 cup White Vinegar - ~1/8 cup water - 2-4 tbsp salt - 2-4 tbsp pepper And it's fabulous. If I used Apple Cider vinegar instead of Red Wine, how would it taste?

Sup /ck/, a few days ago I posted a recipe for a roasted mushroom soup. I was developing an idea for a trio of soup shooters and someone said I should try and zucchini soup and someone else said an onion au gratin. Well I nixed the zucchini soup idea and decided on a cucumber ginger soup (which I haven’t made yet) but I made the onion soup it’s a very basic recipe but all around solid just needs a bit of tweaking so any suggestions would be helpful also I had 3 plating ideas for the onion and wanted to know what /ck/ liked best. Recipe and pictures to follow.

Cajun/Creole General

What does /ck/ know about cajun/creole cooking? I'm curious, for curiosity's sake, as to how /ck/ prepares their roux as well as how they feel about crawdads/crayfish/mudbugs. General cajun/creole thread. Or anything related, i.e. french cuisine.

Ok. This fascinated me. A few questions: Does Pizza Hut still make their dough fresh and put on slices of cheese? Do they still offer anchovies? Is it advisable to use cheese slices instead of shredded cheese? This is the first time I've heard of doing that.

I don't know if booze is /ck/ on-topic, but there isn't anywhere else to put this, so.. I recently started picking up 40oz like Colt 45 and my preferred King Cobra. The latter tastes pretty good (better than skunk beer or any shit like Bud/Miller/Coors/PBR/etc. especially for the price). Is anyone else an avid malt liquor drinker? Am I sacrificing too much of my health to get drunk for cheaper or is the health/calories around the same level as a more expensive, preferred beer (Kostritzer, Sam Adams, Stella Artois, etc.). Mind you my money saving strategy has been a 40oz + a cheap bottle of Svedka vodka a week. On the other hand it was 24$ on whiskey or 18+ on a 12 pack.
