Americunt novice chef here, looking to make a corned beef shepherd's pie to celebrate our bastardization of St. Patrick's day. Care to give me a hand with the recipe, friends? This is what I've got so far: Slow cook ~1 lb corned beef in beer (Suggestions on beer? I'll use Budweiser if nobody stops me. I swear I fucking will!) overnight. Fry 1-2 lbs of bacon crispy. Dry and crumble. Sautee diced onions, carrots, peas, diced potatoes in butter (Or should I use some bacon grease?) for 5-10 minutes. Add half of crumbled bacon to mix. Drain corned beef, add to vegetables, cook another 5 minutes. Add beef stock? Mash potatoes, add butter, cream, garlic powder, salt/pepper. Smear mashed potatoes in pie tins to form crust, bake for a couple of minutes to crisp at 350, remove from oven. Pour in vegetables and corned beef, maybe add beef gravy? Cover in mashed potatoes, sprinkle colby jack and/or cheddar cheese over, bake 20 minutes or so. Serve with sour cream, crumbled bacon, and chives.

While drinking yesterday, I caramelized an entire onion, a whole head of garlic, and fried up half a pound of ground beef yesterday and proceeded to eat the entire thing. After imbibing more whiskey and beer afterwards, I passed out. Today I awoke, and apparently, I fucking reek. All of the toxins from the booze along with the onions and garlic are seeping out of my pores. My brother nearly threw up this morning after he climbed into the car after I sat for a minute in the passenger seat. I've brushed my teeth, used mouthwash, and took a shower and scrubbed down with body wash, all to no avail. Is there anything I can do to clear up my emanating stench?

How do you pace yourself at an all you can eat buffet? I just got back from one, here's my report: 2 salads 3 bowls of noodles 2 plates of pizza bread 1 bowl of chili 3 glasses of water I think I did pretty good, but it's definitely a new record for me. I made sure to stay away from the desserts and soda. Keep in mind this is all I had the last 22 hours, and all I will have until tomorrow night, so not bad for $7.29 I think.

Hey /ck/ I was asked to bring a snack to an event tomorrow where there'll be 20-30 people. Apparently myself and one other person will be the only folks bringing snacks for the reception. I have this go-to buffalo chicken dip I was going to bring when I thought other ppl were gonna be helping out, but girls oftentimes don't like anything remotely spicy and some ppl won't even touch something labeled buffalo, no matter how mild it might be. So now im. Thinking ill get a couple huge bags of chips, but would really like to bring a dip/appetizer with a broad appeal. Any suggestions? Pic unrelated, homemade ice cream, strawberries and a macaroon.

Hey cooks, just got 250g of lean bite-size pieces of beef heart. How do I cook them so that they are tender (or at least not hard)? In the past, I used to put them on the pan, maybe with a tad of water, let them cook some, pour some olive oil in and maybe something else for taste, let them cook a tad more. But they came kinda hard.
