What spices go well with teriyaki sauce and rice? Or is just teriyaki sauce fine?

This is what KFC's coleslaw looks like in Canada. Why is the Canadian version different and how did they achieve this shade of neon green?

So what's the difference between a tonkatsu, a schnitzel and a basic breaded porkchop?

Hello again /ck/. I am back again to answer any questions you may have accumulated for me since my last thread. Ask me anything you'd like that pertains to my field and I will answer as thoroughly as you desire. As always, I have my charts available as well. Let me know what types of charts you want and I'll post them as soon as possible. With that said, The Butcher is in- ask away /ck/.

Firehouse Subs Sucks

57 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: firehouse.jpg]
So a Firehouse Subs opened up near me this week. It's fucking awful stuff. Well, it was decent, not awful. But for nearly $9 for a foot long, it was awful. The dude said the closet thing they have to a reuben sandwich was their NY Steamer, which has corned beef and pastrami, without even telling me they sell just corned beef sandwiches. Why not sell a reuben if you have taken the trouble to offer corned beef? Is it really that hard to add sauerkraut and rye bread? Also, the owner bragged about having fresh cut veggies when I was talking to him but then he didn't even offer to add any veggies to my sub. He just made it w/o asking me about them. So nearly $9 for a foot long sub that just had meat and cheese and a soggy bun. It was a lot narrower than Subway subs so it didn't even fill me up. And it was mostly bread, nothing like the pictures on their website. Please reply and justify liking this place. I'll take Subway any day over them.

I'm trying to recreate my mom's chicken pho. It's really good, and I'm quite proud of it. But it not quite the same. My mom's version had more body to the broth while mine if more like a really light soup. Anyone else tried recreating food from their childhood?

Is there any prep work you absolutely hate doing? For me, it's grating. I'm fine with doing almost anything else but I can't stand it when I have to grate some vegetables or cheese. It's so tedious.

Do you eat in the restaurants, joints? If so, why? They call their clients "guest". Would they serve you not in exchange for money? Or you are not welcomed there without money?

/ck/ I've hated fish my whole life. The smell and taste are just absolutely the worst. Sushi makes me want to vomit any time I have it. HOWEVER I just had a bagel with creamcheese and Salmon and that shit was the BOMB. (Probably because it tasted like salami) Are their any other fish that dont suck

I have been a hiki for 13 years but my mother is leaving town for 2 weeks and I have to act like a human being. This means COOKING food... with an oven and fire and shit. I don't eat organ meat, butternut squash or much sea food. What are some good/easy/relatively healthy meals to prepare that will help me avoid starvation? I my culinary repertoire is the following: eggs, cereal, fresh berries, bread, boneless chicken breast (pan fry), rice, potatoes, cottage cheese, fruit, oatmeal, penis butter/jam, canned ham/tuna, almonds/walnuts, fajita/wraps, baked salmon, shake and bake chicken, steamed vegetables, hamburgers, cheese, hemp hearts, flax, chocolate pudding, macaroni, hotdogs, chili/refried beans, ice cream. Will red wizard need food badly? am I going to die? should I add anything?

What are some healthy things I can make late at night without disturbing the peace? I have very, VERY little in my fridge and cupboards since I cleaned them out but haven't gone to costco to get more stuff yet. Pic related: What I'm trying not to succumb to.
