So I was planning to make some tamagoyaki, turns out my mirin is about a month past the best before date. Would I be okay if I used it anyway? It's alcoholic so it shouldn't be to bad right? There's no asian supermarket in my town, so getting a new bottle would be a bit of a hassle.

I cooked some pinto beans in a crockpot, then I left about 2 cups in, threw in 2 chicken breasts and about a cup of salsa. I think the beans are getting dry, but I don't want to add a bunch of water and end up with soup. Are the beans going to burn or anything? What do?

Hi /ck/ :3 I'm more or less playing adult for 8 months, living away from home for school. Anyways. Being a student on a pretty fixed income I was wondering if you all had any cheap-o meals to make, that were still pretty tasty? I've googled the topic but nothing has really stuck me so far.

yo /ck/ i understand that they're different, but how can you distinguish parmesean from romano? They taste pretty much the same to me, but i'm sure there's some subtle difference in the flavors. Can you help me out?

So I want to make some pesto, but I don't have any pine nuts, and I hate walnuts. Does it really matter? I don't think peanuts will work, but it's all I have.

how much do you spend on food a week? im a poor college kid, planing to move out on my own and i just realized i have no idea how much food costs. I enjoy a good meal, so i dont plan on eating any ramen. If i stick to buying the "bad" cuts of meat like chicken thighs, oxtail, beefshanks, and other staple goods how much should i be spending around?? also any tips for making good meals cheaply?

alright /ck/, I have a problem. I pan fry like 90% of the food I eat (chicken, steak, fish), and whenever I put chicken or fish on, the olive oil always burns within 30 seconds of the food hitting the pan, but never burns for steaks. Why is this?

Good afternoon, /ck/ Maybe you can help me. See, I'm feeling uninspired today, and I have three items to use for a recipe. I have a whole chicken, spinach leaves, and some broccoli. I also have your everyday spices and such. So, /ck/, what should I make with this food?

I recently moved out, and I've really enjoyed cooking for myself thus far. Tonight I'm trying a whole chicken with cornbread stuffing for the first time. Its 4 pounds, and its currently in the oven at 375 degrees. Any suggestions as to how long I should keep it in for?

What does /ck/ think of cake pops? Anyone tried making them before? Any fav recipes or special ways of making them? I've made them before using chocolate and chocolate frosting, but is it possible to make red velvet cake pops without matching icing? Thoughts!
