alright /ck/, I have a problem. I pan fry like 90% of the food I eat (chicken, steak, fish), and whenever I put chicken or fish on, the olive oil always burns within 30 seconds of the food hitting the pan, but never burns for steaks. Why is this?

I recently moved out, and I've really enjoyed cooking for myself thus far. Tonight I'm trying a whole chicken with cornbread stuffing for the first time. Its 4 pounds, and its currently in the oven at 375 degrees. Any suggestions as to how long I should keep it in for?

I cooked some pinto beans in a crockpot, then I left about 2 cups in, threw in 2 chicken breasts and about a cup of salsa. I think the beans are getting dry, but I don't want to add a bunch of water and end up with soup. Are the beans going to burn or anything? What do?
