Ok /ck/ so yesterday I grilled up two thick cuts of sirloin on my gas grill; one was marinaded and the other wasn't (cuz I ran out of materials). When I took them off and ate them the marinaded one was much tougher than the non-marinaded and seemed to be cooked more (medium while the other was medium-rare). The cuts were about the same size and thickness so my question is: Does marinading a steak make it cook faster? I can't seem to explain why this happened.

Have you ever noticed that microwaving a hot pocket for 2mins 30secs is like eating a pizza flavored Klondike Bar? Ever notice that microwaving a hot pocket for 3mins is biting into a pizza flavored active volcano?

How does /ck/ feel about diet foods? I'm not talking about healthy food, I'm talking about things that have had fat/sugar purposely removed. Things like diet coke, skim milk, stevia, etc. To me, I think think it's on the same level as wasting. It just lacks a purpose. I'll take full sugar and fat over diet foods any day. Just gotta moderate intake. It ain't rocket science. :)

I want to buy my brother a present for his high school graduation, I was thinking a bottle of booze, since that's a treat for him. Should I get him something actually fancy, or just a bottle of Jack?

Does anyone here like dilute juices? Like, right now I'm drinking apple juice diluted about 6x with water. I dilute pretty much all the juices/sweet drinks that I drink. inb4 >drinking apple juice

is there any Michelin star Pizza Restaurant in the world ? that is not Amerifat, double MSG Cheese with billion toppings on soggy chemical plastic wonder bread, no wonder you guys are so fat. I'm talking traditional Italian, oak fire oven, with fresh : basil, buffalo Italian cheese and matured tomato's diced with a sprinkle of olive oil, no you can not have a 18" inch of that with pepperoni..

Hello /ck/, first time ever coming here As a man who lives off frozen pizza and Chinese food, the past week I've been really getting into cooking. This is what I made tonight, do you think I did well?

Haven't been on /ck/ in a while. I'm amazed you guys don't have a sticky yet. Anywho, I've resolved to cook dinner more often for myself. I already have lunch and breakfast down, so why not? To this end, I have acquired some frozen (yes, pleb tier fish) salmon filets. I was thinking about doing them in a skillet on the stove top, but I also have a rice steamer that I could put them in if that would work better. I was thinking to do a simple marinade for the salmon, but I'm not sure what to put them in. My first instinct is to do some kind of soy sauce/lime juice concoction. Any other ideas for fish marinade?

where's the weirdest place you've ever cooked /ck/? southside chicagofag here. this pic reminded me of being a teen and having nowhere else to party but in cemeteries after hours. i've cooked in them several times. i've also cooked on the roof of my brother-in-law's apartment building a few times and once on a boat.

hashbrown question

Can you prep hash browns and leave them in the fridge for later use? I intend to make hash browns for dinner tonight, but I want to go ahead and grate & soak them now. Will they still turn out fine, or will they have a propensity to stick if I do this? Thanks, /ck/.
