Ok /ck/ so yesterday I grilled up two thick cuts of sirloin on my gas grill; one was marinaded and the other wasn't (cuz I ran out of materials). When I took them off and ate them the marinaded one was much tougher than the non-marinaded and seemed to be cooked more (medium while the other was medium-rare). The cuts were about the same size and thickness so my question is: Does marinading a steak make it cook faster? I can't seem to explain why this happened.

How does /ck/ feel about diet foods? I'm not talking about healthy food, I'm talking about things that have had fat/sugar purposely removed. Things like diet coke, skim milk, stevia, etc. To me, I think think it's on the same level as wasting. It just lacks a purpose. I'll take full sugar and fat over diet foods any day. Just gotta moderate intake. It ain't rocket science. :)

Haven't been on /ck/ in a while. I'm amazed you guys don't have a sticky yet. Anywho, I've resolved to cook dinner more often for myself. I already have lunch and breakfast down, so why not? To this end, I have acquired some frozen (yes, pleb tier fish) salmon filets. I was thinking about doing them in a skillet on the stove top, but I also have a rice steamer that I could put them in if that would work better. I was thinking to do a simple marinade for the salmon, but I'm not sure what to put them in. My first instinct is to do some kind of soy sauce/lime juice concoction. Any other ideas for fish marinade?
