Vegan Thread. Can we talk about how awesome hummus is? Hummus is a god-tier vegan snack food. It's healthy. And if you use veggies instead of chips, it is a 100% guilt-free way mindlessly eat. Have you all noticed the trend lately? I know you can feel it. Hummus is fucking everywhere all of sudden. Anyway, I don' mind it. In fact, I've been trying all the different brands and varieties. So far, Sabra's Roasted Pine Nut Hummus paired with Stacy's Simply Naked Pita Chips. So, so good.

So I considered going to /pol/ for this, and I might later just to get their particular flavour of explanation, but right now, you guys will do. Explain to me what is wrong with genetically modified foods. My understanding of them is that they're bred/engineered to be resistant to pesticides, to have bigger yields, and to produce larger crops, which cannot be a bad thing. I also know that companies like Monsanto are trying to patent (or maybe they already did?) the specific genes that they used to make these super-crops, and that that can bring up all manner of controversy. I also heard that if stray Monsanto/Whatever seeds end up in non-GMO fields, and sprout there, then the farmer has to pay a fee of some kind. So pretending that Monsanto and other such companies didn't act unreasonably with regards to the logistics of all of this, tell me what's wrong, from a biological/nutritional angle, with genetically modified foods.

I am making pumpkin pie, and I didn't want to throw away the stringy guts, so I thought maybe I could boil it up with a little of the flesh and brew with it. I have some barley tea bags, green and iced tea bags, brown sugar, white granulated sugar, honey and sorghum, maybe molasses. No fresh or malted barley on hand, no hops, and a VERY basic brewing kit. I have one packet of Munton's yeast, and several wine yeasts. What should I try?

/ck/ I come to you in need of extreme help. I don't know how to cook really, and I'm a huge picky eater. When I grew up, I basically lived on totinos pizzas, chicken nuggets, and mac n cheese. I haven't tried most things, even if it is unhealthy for me. I always kinda hated the taste of chicken that isn't fried, but I've been getting better. I'm trying to get /fit/, but I honest to god don't know how to fix my diet, or where to begin. I mean there are so many choices, and I just the other day tried broccoli with ranch and didn't hate it like I expected I would. My question is, where can I begin to change my habits? What should I try to get my feet into the water? Doing something different with my omletes other than cheese and bacon? Honestly I don't even know how to describe it. I know it is kinda of hard to understand where I'm coming from, but to me, most food I haven't tried seems absolutely disgusting. Be it texture, smell, color. It is really frustrating.
