As of 2 months ago it seems like there is a conspiracy against me. Every time I go to McDonald's, Wendy's, or BK and order my meal with a Diet Coke they invariably give me a regular Coke. On Sunday I was driving 4 hours back home and decided to stop by Wendy's for a pick-me-up. I ordered a Baconator combo with a chicken wrap on the side and asked for a Diet Coke. I even said, "please make sure it is a Diet Coke" again at the end of the order. I parked my car and was looking forward to the food. The Baconator was prepared very well and I took a sip of my drink and big surprise it was not Diet Coke. I was livid and drove to the drive-thru, which was still packed with cars. It took 6 minutes before I got to the first window and told them my issue. I had to wait another 5 minutes before getting to the second window. It was a nightmare. I told the employee (a young woman) my problem. I was a bit upset and also told her that this wasn't the first time this has happened and I didn't understand what has been going on lately. I also said I waited over 10 minutes just to get my proper drink order and this was ridiculous "service". As she handed me my drink she said, "I wouldn't worry about the Diet Coke if you are eating a Baconator combo, it won't kill you" and smiled at me while looking at me in the eyes. I couldn't believe it, I was livid and ended up driving away without getting the drink. I like Diet Coke for the taste and don't like sugary drinks, especially while eating a meal. Cutting the calories is an added bonus, but not the main reason. Why is this hard to understand? Why did she have to say this? Luckily I was over 3 hours from home and will probably not be at that Wendy's this year. I emailed corporate and told them about this and am still waiting for a reply. Has anyone else noticed a decline in fast food service or correct Diet Coke transactions since the fall? It happens almost every time it can't be a coincidence.

Fridge time! So, it's dark, wet and I've got the day off. What to do? Clean my cupboards and fridge out, that's what. So, seeing as we haven't got a fridge/cupboard thread, lets start one. Come on /ck/, lets see what you have in your fridge/stock cupboards. My fridge (apart from not being cold enough- only just turned it back on): Shelf 1: Fruit: Kiwi, apple, bananas, plums and a random bowl of cooked chicken for tonights stir fry Shelf 2: Veg: Homegrown tomatos (in brown box), mange, babycorn, 2 X salad leaves Shelf 3: Chicken for tomorrows roast, light butter, butter for baking and half a ginger cakes (belongs to the other half) Drawer: carrots, parsnips, sliced greens, potatoes, onion, garlic, cauliflower and broccoli. Normally a bit more packed than this- forgot my beetroot, swede and butternut squash whilst shopping yesterday. :(

So I'm thinking of making my own ravioli from scratch cause it's fucking cheap and (hopefully) delicious. I want to fill it with crimini mushrooms, spinach, and feta, but I'm not sure if those would be good (don't know if the feta will be too overpowering). I have some questions: Would the filling be good? Can I put extra ravioli I don't eat into a baggie and freeze them? If so, how do I reheat them?

I made a mistake and forgot to put the sour cream back in the fridge. Left it out overnight. Is it still good to eat?

Traveling from Canada and working in the States as a Cook/Chef

Hey /ck/, I have a few questions regarding working in the States from Canada... I am a Chef with 10 years experience living in Toronto Ontario, and my Girlfriend is living in Seattle Washington, and I want to be closer to her and work near her, so I thought about obtaining a Work Visa and staying there for a year or more. My question is which Visa should I apply for? How long does the process take? I want to go be with her as soon as possible... but I just need a direction for someone to point me in. Do I need to have a job offer first? How hard is it to obtain one? Anyone have any real life experience with this kinda stuff? any info would help greatly. Thanks guys.

Sup /ck/, fa/tg/uy here looking for some advice. I need recipes/suggestions for meals that are good to eat when you're sick as a dog. I somehow managed to get bronchitis and strep throat at the same time and as a result my throat feels like its been gangbanged by sandpaper all day. Making regular food hurt like a motherfucker and be generally unplesant, combined with the fact that my tastebuds arent doing too hot either. I am not a bad cook, just one without a lot of ideas outside of the generic "chicken soup" hence why I'm here. So /ck/, what are some recipies that are great to eat when you're sick.

Alright /ck/. Not 100% sure this is the best board for this but I sure as hell dont want to throw this on /b/. This weekend my companions from college and I are going onto a Halloween cruise and need to think of ways to smuggle booze onto the cruise, otherwise we pay +$8 for drinks at their bar which is a big no no for us. Here are a few obstacles we face. They can open any closed or sealed container we have, they may search us and if they catch us with it they'll just confiscate it. We hope to jump on last minute so they'll rush us though but do you have any idaes /ck/

Mead (honey wine)

34 more posts in this thread. [Missing image file: jhm.png]
Hey /ck/ I was visiting some friends in Montreal last weekend and noticed they were brewing mead. I was just wondering if anyone knows anything about brewing it. I was told to take 1 gallon (4 litres) of water, 1-2kilos of honey, 1 pack of yeast, at least 25 raisins and some orange/apple slices and put them all in the water, shake for five mins (yeast needs oxygen) and then cover the top of the bottle with a balloon that has a pinhole. Does this sound okay? My balloon has already inflated (it's been 24 hours) and I think this is supposed to be a good sign. Any general advice/thoughts are helpful Thanks

Yo /ck/, what's a good recipe to cook up involving chicken that is also high in iron? A lot of blood got lost yesterday so I'm looking to replenish some iron. I'm looking for something simple but that still tastes good.

Hey /ck/, I don't normally come here, but today I had a strange thought. In the future, do you think it will become common for people to use numbers when describing food? Do you think something like "Apple Pie 2" could take off? Like, you could walk into bakery and say "Could I have apple pie 5 with custard 3?" and they'd know what you're talking about?
