Sup /ck/! I kinda promised this grill I go to school with that I was an awesome cook and I'd be able to cook her up some great lasagna, but in reality I'm mediocre at best. /ck/ Aussie here. I went to a butcher the other day at the local shopping center and got a few kilos of chicken breast, I took them home and I had to cut off the excess fat off alll of them and one of them still had a bone in it, I went back and told the guy about the bone and he said I should have brought it back and got a new breast. But I don't give that much of a fuck about it, he told me they don't even cut up the chicken breasts there, they just receive them and tray them apparently. I'm wondering if I go back there and ask if they can trim off the fat on the chicken breasts I'm going to buy, if they would even do it. The people who work there are young adults and a few probably 17 year old girls. What the fuck. Should I be looking for a quality butcher, and like not a chain one?

I got a new job for Amazon developing ads for the Kindle. Moved out of home and settled into a new apartment in Seattle. Now I'm looking for cookware, bakeware, cutlery and other kitchen stuff. My parents sent a lot of stuff with the moving truck. Here's what I have: - Two sets of pots/pans, one stainless steel, one non-stick - Forks, spoons, butter knives - Plates (large/small), cups, glasses, pitchers - Plastic / glass storage containers, mixing bowls - Glass measuring cup - Spatulas, oven mitts, dishrags, hand towels - Cleaning supplies Here's what I still need: - Glass bakeware - Cutlery block, cutting boards - Coffee maker (I don't drink coffee, but this is Seattle after all) - Toaster - Smaller measuring cups - Metal bakeware (cookie pan, etc.) I get a 10% discount from Amazon with free two-day shipping. What am I forgetting, and how much should I expect to pay for all of this crap?

For quite a while I have been looking for a container to store my ball jars and canned food. In the past I had simply left the jars in the cardboard box they came in. However, the jars tended to get dusty, and they weren't protected from mice. This became very apparent one year when we had a bad mouse problem, resulting in jars sitting in mouse poo. Looking online, I found storage containers designed just for canning jars, but they were very expensive (30$ each). I finally found a container that is the exact size for storing canning jars, and I just had to share. The containers are made by Sterilite (15qt, 16 5/8 x 13 x 6 5/8) and are less than 4$ each. I got mine at Walmart.

Alright /ck/, tomorrow morning I get to try out working line cook at a local diner. If I fuck up I dont get hired, if I do good I might get hired. Alright guys. I was back in hometown last weekend and got some god-tier beef sausage, probably a pound of it. Made fresh in the butcher shop and smoked in store, still wrapped in butcher paper. I haven't used any yet because I've been drunk and busy and forgot about it in the fridge. What I want to do is use it for red beans and rice. I've tried to make this one time and it kind of sucked, usually I use the Tony Cachere's box mix, its only $1. And I have two boxes in my pantry. Before I waste this quality sausage on a box dinner, I'd like your input. Can you give me a really good red beans and rice recipe? Even an acceptable red beans and rice recipe would work. I have the rice and beans. I'm thinking I need to use this sausage by this weekend, I bought it fresh and don't know what the fridge life is on it. Also, I'm open to suggestions as to how to use it other than red beans and rice. I just need to use it and would rather make a dish with it rather than just cook it on the grill. Hello, anon!
