Oils thread. What's your favourite cooking oil? What do you have to say about oils and its use? Where do you use them? I really enjoy Chef Jhon's videos from his channel on youtube (foodwishes if anyone's interested) and he always suggests everyone to use vegetable/olive oil because it's healthier than the others (do your own research about them if you wanna know why) Question is: do you use them? is it as expensive as it is in my country, in your own? Here it's hard to find any sort of variety of anything. I found out that olive oil is REALLY expensive, i'm talking about at least 5xtimes the price of a common cooking oil. So it would be really expensive and hard for me to get it, even though i'm really interested.

I don't know where to ask, so I'll ask here. You probably know best. I've been visiting this family for a couple of weeks, and when they got into a fight just now and left to settle between themselves, I felt like emptying the dishwasher, because I was asked to contribute more to the household. So I emptied it when it sounded like it was done, but when I closed the dishwasher, it turned back on! This is one of those kitchens where everything looks the same on the surface, so no visible displays to show the progress. So I opened the door again, and on a well hidden display it said 48, and I'm assuming this is the remaining minutes. I said fuck it, and just turned it off and put the rest of the dirty dishes in. The dishes had no soap on them, they were just a little wet and hot. Should I worry? Moral of the story is, if you're a man, you either get shit for not contributing to the household, or you end up doing everything wrong.

How do you go about making pulled/shredded beef in a slow cooker? so far I plan to buy 3lbs of skirt steak, rub all over with flour, salt and pepper, brown on all sides, and put in the slow cooker on low for six hours with: can of diced tomatoes tomato paste onion garlic chilli peppers capsicums paprika cayenne chili powder tabasco chinese five spice is there anything I should alter or will this be okay?
