What causes these little boil/blister like bubbles to appear on a bagel after toasting?

Is there a reason why nigiri is so expensive for its size compared to rolls? Is there some expertise vital to cutting it just right or in keeping the fish on the rice? 2-3 dollars for a slice of tuna a bit larger than one's thumb just seems abnormally pricy since the rest of the preparation process seems relatively simple.

Hello, I would like to know which beans are better for a coffeemachine: espresso or just common beans for long coffee. So far I used usual beans but a friend of mine told me, that espresso beans are healthier for your stomach. What are your experiences?

Hey /ck/ I'm moving out and into my first house next week. In the next month or so, I'll be pretty low on money while filling up the house with furniture and the like. I come to you in my hour of need. I'm looking for any good, cheap recipes. I'm looking to try and spend as little on food as possible while I pay for appliances and furniture, so good tasting recipes made from cheap ingredients would be phenomenal. Just some points; >no Ramen. I can't find it where I live (Aus) Mi Goreng is fine. >not a big fan of tomato. Can eat in paste, sauce, or sundried. Thanks

>order a cup of steaming, near-boiling coffee or tea >spend the next 10 minutes blowing it and trying to cool it down Why do people do this? Is it a cultural thing, or just something Americans do? Why don't restaurants give people the option of a cup of coffee that isn't scalding? I've heard of some Japanese teahouses that wait until the tea is the 'ideal temperature' before serving. I think that would be fucking awesome.
