I guess I mentioned in the past around the office that I bought steaks marked down at a good price . So a while back the boss is on the phone and he says "Hey you (me), you buy old meat, my wife has a pack of chicken in the fridge and it's got yesterdays date, and she wants to know if she should cook it?"
After getting over the shock of knowing I'm thought of as "the guy who buys old meat", I told him she should open it and if it looks good and doesn't smell funky then it should be fine.
I think I know now why I haven't been paid better here, a guy who "buys old meat" is probably not expected to need much money.
Moral of the story: you can save a lot this way, but keep it to yourself.
a little culinary love story

Just wanted to share a nice experience with you.
So my girlfriend and I broke up a couple of months ago. There were a lot of factors, but I think part of it was birth control fucking up her hormones and killing her sex drive. Anyway, over the past couple of weeks we've been chatting again, we are now working on reconciliation.
So tonight we had a date. The plan was for me to go over to her place and cook dinner. The thing is I don't really cook all that much. But I wanted to go strong, so I went with ribeyes and asparagus.
To make a long story short, I ended up botching the hollandais for the asparagus, but the steaks came out great, she cooked some paleo chocolate cookies, we fooled around afterward but stopped short of sex because we agreed to take things kinda slow.
Now I'm laying in bed with some good food in my guts and a little joy in my heart. Tomorrow I'm gonna wake up in the morning and take a fantastic shit.
Feels good man.
Any other feel good food experiences out there? Romantic or otherwise?
