It's cold as a witch's tit in a brass brassiere, guys. We're expecting snow and ice tonight, so I'm going to cook up a big batch of split pea soup with cornbread for dinner. SO, give me your secret tips for the best split pea soup ever. I have a good basic recipe, but I want it to be fantastic, not just good. I want it to be the ultimate comfort soup, one that my whole family will melt over. Ya know? Anyway, I have a wide list of ingredients I can throw in there, and three different kinds of broth or stock I could use, but I'm looking for something to really make it stand out and compliment the flavors. As far as the meaty component, I have some thick cut bacon, but no ham, and I also have some beef soup bones and marrow bones. tl;dr tell me how you take split pea soup from just good to amazing!

So I've got a pair of chicken breasts. I was going to make stir fry but I've gotten bored with that. What delicious meals can I make with chicken breast, stir fry frozen vegetable mix, and basic herbs and spices (onion powder, cumin, pepper, salt, parmesan cheese)?

>order a cup of steaming, near-boiling coffee or tea >spend the next 10 minutes blowing it and trying to cool it down Why do people do this? Is it a cultural thing, or just something Americans do? Why don't restaurants give people the option of a cup of coffee that isn't scalding? I've heard of some Japanese teahouses that wait until the tea is the 'ideal temperature' before serving. I think that would be fucking awesome.

Friends, let's talk about chili. Yes, Chili. How ya make it. How ya like it. What ya put in it. What should be in it. What shouldn't be in it. Recipes. Experiences. I shall start with my own recipe with some explainin. Y'all can rate it if ya want.

Serious question. Do you have to use a special kind of cheese/cheese sauce for nachos. Every.single.time I've had it served, it has always been one big, conjoined mess. Like it's impossible to just pick one single nacho out with cheese on it.

I've got a load of black pudding to finish before it goes bad. What are some good recipes? Other than fry ups and chicken stuffed with black pudding.

I'm about to bread and pan fry some chicken. How can I make sure it gets cooked evenly? Usually I just cook one side then the other, but then it ends up crispy on the sides but soft in the middle.

I'm looking to getting into Asian cuisines so I went out and bought some stuff at a supermarket in chinatown just to have some fun and try new stuff. I got this stuff called "greenmax" that I guess you're supposed to have for breakfast, but I don't really know what it is.. Also, I bought loose green tea (not in individual pouches) and was wondering how that traditional or best way of making it might be. Any recommendations; brands to look out for/shy away from? Reading material would be highly appreciated!

Hey /ck/, I don't come here often but I realize you all are the experts. I recently stopped being a vegetarian and would like to know what I've missed out on these past 6 years I've been one. Any recommendations for what are must haves at chain or fast food places, I'll be trying the locals on my own.
