It's cold as a witch's tit in a brass brassiere, guys. We're expecting snow and ice tonight, so I'm going to cook up a big batch of split pea soup with cornbread for dinner. SO, give me your secret tips for the best split pea soup ever. I have a good basic recipe, but I want it to be fantastic, not just good. I want it to be the ultimate comfort soup, one that my whole family will melt over. Ya know? Anyway, I have a wide list of ingredients I can throw in there, and three different kinds of broth or stock I could use, but I'm looking for something to really make it stand out and compliment the flavors. As far as the meaty component, I have some thick cut bacon, but no ham, and I also have some beef soup bones and marrow bones. tl;dr tell me how you take split pea soup from just good to amazing!

I'm looking to getting into Asian cuisines so I went out and bought some stuff at a supermarket in chinatown just to have some fun and try new stuff. I got this stuff called "greenmax" that I guess you're supposed to have for breakfast, but I don't really know what it is..
