Fellow /diy/nosaurs A couple of weeks ago I requested help with a 3D model of a coat of arms. A fellow anon helped me out with a model done in ArtCam. Pic related. Now I can present you the final piece, made with CNC (high speed, 25000 rpm, 1 mm) out of aluminum. I will attach the buckle on the backside this evening and will update. Pic related the 3D model

Hey guys, I want to make a wall in my house into an ant farm with acrylic sheeting. I've never had an ant farm before and don't know how feasible this is, if a colony can live in something that size, etc. Thoughts?

Tent Help

GP Medium Tent stock photo My sister recently bought a GP medium tent off craigslist, and we're trying to set it up this weekend. I know that we have all of the canvas and poles, but I'm not sure about the rope. There was no rope that I could see when it was folded up. Is the rope for tents like this attached to the canvas, or will I have to buy rope? And how much?

Aluminum sheet cutting

hidey ho there neighbor! I'm working on a Kingdom Hearts keyblade and I need some help with one of the steps. I'm making the small charm that is on the end of the chain out of aluminum sheeting and its a bitch to cut as I'm sure I dont have to tell some of you. I'm wondering if there is a "100% this is the best way" method for doing that, the snips I have arn't delicate enough to make some of the smaller cuts there. >TL;DR cutting aluminum the easy way

I have about ten pieces of what I assume is plated steel. They're banking components for a piece of computer hardware for a custom project I'm doing. The only problem is they're magnetized. Is there any way to demagnetize them without a demagnetizer or a lab oven? I have rudimentary tools and some misc. appliances, but that's about it. It can't damage the plating, either.

Is the lonely CAD student still here? I was playing a mission in Far Cry 3, and i noticed some nice looking ROV. Im wondering if someone can sketch out some concept art of these? This is a link to a video of the mission. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDWHOk7BrOY#t=597

Hey guys, im a broke college student and im moving into a new place, currently all the furniture ill have for my room is a futon. I want to build pic related with metal pipe (2 inch maybe?) and some kind of wood that ill later stain. Ive never done a project like this before and i dont even have the piece for dimensions. I could buy it but the person on craigslist wants $40 for it and it looks like pressed wood and plastic (A.K.A. garbage) and i would rather build my own. I have access to normal tools (drill, wrenchs, screwdrivers etc..) Any tips? or advice?

So... I have this idea for this closet with shelves that'll attach to my slanted ceiling in my room. Since my room is the attic, I can barely use any wall space. One wall has a door, the other has a large portion stick out of it because of the chimney, and the other two walls are slanted roofs plus a dormer on one side. So I figured, since I'm running out of space to put my games, I could make like a closet with shelving to fit games, that could fold upwards upside down against my ceiling with a hinge, allowing me to pull it back down whenever I'd need anything from it. Is there anyone here with practical knowledge that can tell me if making something like these is even feasible? Or better yet, if something like this already exists, what the fuck is it called? PS, apologies for the shitty drawing, I am by no means a designer or an engineer.

Brainstorming time! The ultimate /diy/ home/house/secret base thread. As an architect I have always wanted to build my own house. But I want it to be a one of a kind custom design with tons of cool features and amazing gadgetry. So /diy/ I ask you, what features would you put in/around a house to make it great? Common ideas are basement mazes, zombie defence facades, amazing outdoor fireplace for bbq, epic acoustically designed battlestation command centre etc, or even furnitures like a transforming dining table. So please /diy/ give me your best ideas. OC encouraged. Because these ideas might actually become real if I try to incorporate it in my house. Nothing will be considered too crazy. Assume limitless budget. Assume a average sized typical suburban plot near or in the city.

rocks

(posted in /out/ as well) >tl;dr: I want to make a bow & arrows out of materials I scavenged myself in my area, can you help me identify the rocks I've found? Apparently the best rocks for knapping your own arrowheads out of stone are chert and quartzite, and I don't have any example of either that I can hold in my hand so I was basically working off of images from Google Image Search Can you help me identify whether or not the rocks I've found are adequate for flintknapping and if they're not, what type of rock are they?

Woodcraft

/diy/, where could I learn woodcraft? I know this seems completely random and niot specific at all, but I'd like to learn how to craft small pieces and tools out of wood, and also which type of wood to chose, depending from the application of said tools.
