So /diy/ I have a nasty issue with my house.
When the house was bought the previous owner had an extension built onto the back, providing extra bathroom space and a sun room. However the metal roof has been a source of constant leaks on and off over the past few months. The assumed source is a series of vents where the metal roof met the original shingled roof. After tearing down a few shitty roofing tiles in the sun room, I found a gap between the metal roof and the rest of the house.
There was some foam in the holes but they're dry-rotted and useless. As a result, I figured water was seeping in when rainfall came particularly hard.
Now after a few failed attempts, I'm going to get some roofing caulk, rip out the old foam, and seal the roof as far back as I can get.
Will this work, or will I have another failed repair on my hands? Once the rain stops I might try to get a photo of the roof itself.

I've got this monitor with a blackish purple line running straight across it. It appeared while watching youtube and I've ruled out it being a software issue. GPU drivers have been updated, different inputs have been tried, and the line even appears on the ASUS splash screen when powered on with no inputs connected. It's a hardware problem through and through.
I asked for help on /g/ earlier, they weren't terribly helpful. Aside from telling me to come here they said to try applying pressure on the bezel where the line is, sometimes there is a bad connection or something. I did and nothing changed. I even went so far as to debezel the monitor and apply direct pressure on the monitor case. No change, the line didn't so much as flicker. I don't know what else to do. I tried to RMA it to ASUS, they guy I called said they'd send me an email with RMA instructions within 24 hours of calling. It's been over a week and I've heard nothing. I'm very frustrated and don't know what else to do. Google is useless.
Monitor is ASUS VS229H-P, I have two additional ones that are working fine. An odd note is the line changes color to green on the blue "no HDMI" screen. It's probably an irrelevant detail but I figured I'd include it, shows a whole row of pixels didn't just go dead.

Sup /diy/, i'm after a AC voltage and current logger, everything i can find seem to be aimed at professional use and come with a $400+ price tag, because you know, you have to make sure your 250VAC rated device will handle a indefinite 150kV surge.
So all i need is something that can a) provide a rs232 interface that i can use a PC to log with b) log internally or to an SD card for a reasonable length of time.
It doesn't need to be fancy at all, i just need basic voltage and current over time and most of all it needs to be cheap.
