Has anyone else watched extreme couponing? Does anyone else do that? I just signed up at grocery game and am going to spend the next month seeing how much money it saves the family.

Homebrew

Homebrew thread? What do you guys have going currently? What do you have planned? I know some of you experienced, hard-core brewers are doing a holiday beer of some kind, what is it? Just bottled an Imperial Whiskey Porter that a friend and I are calling, "Depth Charge Imperial Whiskey Porter". It's a little stronger than your average porter, about 7.5 ABV and has a good whiskey smell and taste on the back of your tongue so since it's big and packs that whiskey taste and smell we figured that's a great name. Tomorrow or Thursday I'm going to run up to my LHBS and get some Nottingham yeast for a apple cider I have planned for the Holidays. Takes 3-4 weeks so it'll be ready a couple weeks before Christmas. Other than that, nothing on the radar for now. Maybe a Belgium Triple and mead but that's it. I seem to never have money or time recently so something that'll take a while to age will be perfect right now. Also feel free to ask any questions about the hobby. I'm fairly new to it, only have been doing it for a year but love it.

/diy/, how would I go about changing the liquid in a drinking fountain? I opened one up (a wall mounted one in a dorm) and noticed that it's connected to a water source, so I guess my question is whether or not that source of water is pressurized, or if it becomes pressurized somewhere else in the system? Would it be as simple as say, running a tube into a bottle and having the machine pump it up for me, or would I need a pressurized source of said liquid? I'm thinking something like the hawaiian punch fountain that was seen in the movie Mr. Deeds

A friend's dad, also a neighbor, and I make homemade wine. We use concords mostly, sometimes muskedine but I hate that shit. Also use champagne yeast. fill a barrell.. grapes, water, yeast. keep warm, stir everyday. (Affix trashbag to rim of barrel, cut hole in center of bag, put a rubber band or something to keep it airtight, then remove band for stirring. sometimes if the yeast is working hard, it blows up like a balloon. You can actually hear the yeast working.) Good stuff. Strong. Anyfuckingway. It is my understanding that brewing is fairly easy to undertake - not master, just undertake. Very interested mate. Any tips on getting started. Reading material. Sound like you know what you're doing and you've had successful results, so you seem like the right man to ask.

I want to make my own fucking bow and arrows! for shooting targets of course where the fuck do i get the wood? I've looked it up and im generalizing but it comes down to something like "cut specific type of tree down, during x month, make sure its not too knotted and the grain runs straight" But i mean, I don't have an axe, and I don't remember the exact type of tree, but it doesnt grow around here unless i drive 2 miles north

So I live in an apartment near my university (literally across the street) and I can get my school's wifi on my laptop around my apartment complex once I am not inside my place. My roommate is able to connect to it using her laptop, though it is about a 2 bar signal. What can I use to get better wifi range for my laptop? I am contemplating on getting a long-range usb wifi network adapter with an antenna, but is there a cheaper solution for this?

Basement improvements.

Currently converting my basement into a bar area, with storage under the stairs. Red area is going to have drywall covering the top part of the stairs then I'm taking out the bottom two posts at they aren't actually a supporting wall but for some reason the guys who built this place decided to put that shit there instead of a bannister, blue wall is definitely being put in, may also put a false wall in the green area to give me a little "secret" storage area. What are you doing with your basement, /diy/?

Fixing a pocket

I have an old motorcycle leather jacket. The leather is perfectly fine, but the pocket liner is cloth and ripper to shreds. I've torn them out of the pockets because they were too far gone to repair. I've sewn new pocket liners, but don't know the best way to attach them inside the pocket. Sewing isn't really an option because I can't get access to the insides due to the jacket liner. I've tried contact cement with some scraps, but it doesn't seem to stick to cloth that well. My next experiment would be hot glue, but I've read hot glue doesn't adhere to leather that well (which is why I tried contact cement first). Does anyone have any clever ideas on attaching the pocket liners to the jacket other than what I've come up with above?

Anyone here own cattle? How did you get into the business? Is it lucrative or maybe just a hobby? I recently inherited 40 acres of land (a godsend) and am looking to start my own ranch. Even if I can't make a profit, it's cheaper then buying from the grocery store, right?
